i decided the Renogy DCC30S was a better fit

Could you please expand on why you decided that the Renogy unit is a better fit for you rather than the Bogart unit? I have an extra Bogart unit and was thinking about using it as a DC to DC charger.

the Bogart SCC's are meant to be used with the same sources i.e. solar panels, not solar panels on 1 and alternator on the other
the main controller can only manage both with the same parameters

I now see that your Renogy unit is a "dual" unit where the alternator attaches to one terminal on the unit and the solar panels attach to the MPPT terminal on the unit.
