Building the sickest ® VAWT ever. Brilliant minds unite please!!

I already know it is going to be a hard landing. if we can call it a landing though.

now I have an idea. one I would like to have the readers opinion about.

Do we go pray to a BIG god as we might need it in our BIG church. (inspired by Peter Gabriel)

Now chants and songs will not help us as science not only predicts but studies also demonstrate.

So here comes.

Do we get a freak 11KW 3 phase motor to use as a test bench for PMAs?

Sure it is outlandish....

But it will also enable us to separate the wheat from the chaff. As in no more random claims from untrusted sources their PMA is the next great thing since sliced bread.

I mean why not?

ok sure they do not come for free......

.....

damned dude. these are expensive.

But..

We could do it though. I mean we have the power source ready and waiting.

AII!!

Now we can ridicule the Belgians all we like.
I sure did so until that day. .....

That day I found she was from Antwerpen.

So this story serves as a reminder that this shop might be legit.

like I said, not without cost. But in case we want to push through. which one do we buy?

DISCLAIMER alert.

I am not paid nor sponsored nor the whole blah blah blah.
In fact even though this company might be happy to learn I am mentioning them.

They know nothing about here..

I just want one to consider the sources I contemplate buying from.

I do not do commerce.

@OzSolar yess bother. welcome in this moment in time and mental state :)

We need more of your realism

And I want to invite myself to a BBQ party at your place
Anytime brother! Fine tuning my waterless pond lately. Soon the masterplan will falls into place and it will be nice!

A friend bought a bull dozer but hasn't told his wife yet so he's left it at my place until he finds the right time to mention it to her. Until then it's mine. LOL.

Yesssasss a bulldozer to rip appart alternaters yes?

Hey, I told you to use guy wires to stabilize the turbine ... not the armature!
ugg..

yet again Hedges saw it coming :(

From my vantage point Hedges has like a 99.999999999999999999%
strike rate

Nah of course he also sometimes misses the mark but from what I have seen not many times.

Anyway. Like predicted by Hedges. I need to NOT use guy wires for this application..

grrr.. please add another 20 years to this damned mission we are on!! :(

@Hedges I challenge you to come up with a better way to get woble free.

I will tell you what was the problem first.

Yes we were woble free like I said.

For until we introduced the other disc again.

There is more force at play there than I have seen in any of the books I have bought about the subject.

So we need some out of the box(book) suggestions

wait what?

what?

are you preparing a pond for the VAWT to float in?

hahahha

hahahha I have always known you would never fail to somehow work both against me yet also with me :)

I love you brother :)

dude!!!!!

look at those "wheels"!!!

what are they? like 50CM wide?

what ever width they are WIDE!!

@Hedges Also. I realize now that I should involve you with my most recent update on the first post on this thread.

I make at times a TL/DR update. And in the most recent I involve you. In where I state that your view has been validated by me.
This is regarding the frequency of field reversal.

Now truth be told.

This is still not anyway near scientific proof.

But..

But......

.............

I think on a DIY level we can forgive our selfs when we use the data we have, and for now they seem to agree.

So if this was an uncool move then please let me know and I will rectify!!

@Hedges , I withdrawal my challenge to you as is it more mechanical than your neck of the woods.

@justgary now it is you that is facing the challenge :)

but on another unrelated note though.

I am getting ready. And now I know you all know it will never get over for what science allows for yes?

!!We never suggested any of that to begin with!!!

I think we are all here just to see how far we get yes?

I think far!!!!!!!!!

Ummm, use guy wires? LOL.

Balance is important, but by the very nature of a VAWT, the force is not equal on each side. If it were, the rotor would not turn.

You'll need a post/pole/tower that is strong enough to not bend under the max force and a sufficient anchor to keep it from tipping over.

yes you are totally on to something ;)
We'll try the opposite of guy wires for the PMA for now as we will need rigidity in both directions.

The brain fart I made this time around (and let me assure everyone there are countless to follow), is that guy wires are great when only dealing with gravity. but when we introduce other forces then things get nasty again.

And I mean nasty in a sense that if all we want is 200+ watts then all is cool.

But I will not allow for us to settle for that rather low figure.
At least not without a fight .

now for the turbine I guess we will start with our last point in time again after I finally have some "scientific" data to share.

But I already believe to know where it will point us to.

Frequency of field reversal. That is the name of the game.

By now the blades of the turbine have been withering in the rain that I am not even sure I can pick them up without them breaking apart.
I have always known there would be a moment in time in where they'd become pulp. And I still do not care. If pulp I'll get me 3 new sheets of those panels.

Until we are happy and then I can upgrade to something more durable.

"Star" is commonly used to refer to grounding schemes and network topology, no phase angle involved.

Power generation uses "Wye" or "Delta", typically 120 degree angles.
it seems that when we do want to use core enhanced coils then to limit/reduce/eliminate the cogging then we can use a 7 phase wiring.

hmm during the time of writing this statement I could find no more evidence of a report of that.

So I guess @Warpspeed I owe you an apology. I apologize for suggesting you were mistaken and that 7 phase was some exotic thing out there.

I can no longer proof it so I need to retract it!! Which is done with this very statement.

DANGER ahead.

we are no longer going incrementally stronger to learn where we have an insane disk that can spin at insane speeds.

nah. I have asked you all enough by now.

even thought we have many viewers we have, like me, little ideas,

soo. as I respect that look what we can try next

Now we try going top down.

meaning start too strong and too large

and perhaps one day remind my self that scaling down still is an option.
