Cadmium panels

180 V max so no modules ( either rapid shutdown or microinverters will work. no prices listed that I can find-
so definitely a niche product, worthless for me

CdTe panels have lots of advantages for large scale solar that are hard to beat, so they are used mainly in large scale solar farms and are very successful on that. They seem to be the best solution for solar farms.

When I was working in the auto industry, something was explained to me:

Wonder why there aren't a lot of extra fasterers, etc. in a car? If you're making several million units a year, and each screw, installed, costs you a nickel, you can afford two extra full-time engineers for as many years as the models they work on run for the money they saved by figuring out how to build the car with just one less screw.

If you're building a solar farm with thousands of panels, it doesn't take much savings or extra revenue per panel to make a big financial advantage to selecting it. There are giant base costs, but the bottom line is the DIFFERENCE between outflow and income. A marginal improvement goes straight to the bottom line and is pure gravy, so marginal improvements that are small percentages of the total budget can be very much worth pursuing.

While Cadmiun can be dangerous, First Solar offer free recycling/

Good for the environment AND an easy way to get more tellurium and other pricey rare ingredients for later production.

Don't forget all those revolutionary batteries that charge up instantly, never wear out and are super small and lightweight. Perfectly safe also!

You mean like aluminum / nanopunctured graphene? B-)

Seriously: It's wonderful to be, for batteries, coming out of the era of "Don't bother trying to build it because the NEXT breakthrough will obsolete it before the new fab pays for itself" into that of "Here's some stuff that's good enough to pay for the fab and rake in some dough. Let's DO it! - and get through the opportunity window before three other groups go through it and close it."
