Yeah i know its a stupid question

Growatt PV Grid-Tie Inverter 3600W

SolarEdge 5000W

Short answer-- no. Longer answer is it depends on what else you plan for your system. If you also plan on adding an AIO for battery connection, then maybe. I am upgrading my grid tie system to be off grid with grid backup. The SRNE AIOs I bought allow hooking grid tied inverters to the GEN input and thus grid doesn't need to be up to use them. I'm doing this because I already have a grid-tied system. But if you are buying something new, just build an off-grid system.

someone is selling them for cheap and i wanted to use them cause they have high solar input

you can use them in conjunction with another inverter that can do "off grid".
Basically you want something that can AC couple with them and provide the "grid". A LOT of AIO units are capable of that or you can use a XW Pro currently on sale at NAZ.

Another option would be if they have an option for "off grid" in the software but I'm not familiar with the units.

They are cheap until you add the cost of a Grid forming inverter and then sort out how the grid forming inverter controls their output when the house load is satisfied and the batteries are full.

Hi there, as SplitUniverse said, you might be able to put with another off grid inverter together,if the software allows you can run them into back-up mode which depends on the software but is not really an complete off grid situation(there might be even some power restriction on the back-up mode).I am running completely off grid and I've chosen an inverter which has been designed for off grid-even if now accept to be connected to the grid- in that way the system is running sufficiently without any surprises....Having more components in a system,as necessary is not really advisable....Best regards Frank
