Hi peeps!

Got an old Solax sl-tl 3600t (year 2015 ish), 16 panels (2 x 8 strings). At an off grid set up, all on a shoe string budget. Please may i have some advice on -

1) if the inverter will support battery storage?
2) if so, do I need any extra kit? and what would be, if needed?
3) what voltage bank can I do? 48v?
4) any other advice?! The more of your wisdom the better!

Thanks loads for you help,

Kind regards,

That looks like a grid-tied inverter (according to the label).
I wouldn't expect it to work
At an off grid set up,
Without other equipment.

How are you using this currently?
And to add battery storage, it would take extra equipment.
Probably better to just replace it with an off-grid system.

This is just a grid tie inverter, you need to replace it with a hybrid inverter to add batteries.

Thank you for the reply. I am not using it, I just wondered if it was possible to using it in an off grid / with battery storage / adapting it.. but it doesn't seem possible unfortunately... thanks again for you time.

Please may I ask boss, do you have much experience using Victron kit? I have 16 x 250w panels (pictured below). If I bought a Victron Quattro 15kw (15kw because I may look to add arrays over time).

In layman terms - What sized Victron Mppt would be best for these panels? With the grid tied Solax inverter they were set up in 2x strings of 8 panels (2000w each string). I have tried using the Victrom mppt calculator on their website but I wanted to double check with someone with experience because the 250w sized panels aren't on Victron's website. or Would it be better to do one string of 4000w? or what are the disadvantages of doing that?

Is there any other Victron kit that you would advise getting to go with the Quattro and Mppt?

Kind regards,
Toby

Sorry no, I don't have any Victron equipment. Other than the Smart Shunt.

No Victron here either but they do have a site to match panels to MPPT.

You can confirm by speaking to Bimble

Who are a recommended reseller.

Groet peter2
