Hi, I have been searching for canbus protocol to talk to a CAN provisioned jbd bms. I have 9 batteries to connect and would prefer to monitor each directly using can bus ( instead of UART or rs485).
Could someone suggest where I may further search to find the correct ids ect to send for replies. Or assist with this info. Thankyou kindly

I have a not-so-dumb question. CANBUS is not galvonically isolated. So what happens to the ground reference when one of the BMS units decides to switch off on the ground side of the battery?

So far, batteries don’t communicate with other batteries via the Can bus.

From the Master Battery to the inverter it is possible to use CAN communication. As long as your inverter Nd battery have the same protocols set.

The batteries, depending on the brand, has internal settings to change this. As well as some of the inverters.

To change the batteries you need the appropriate program.

And to make things more fun- not everyone uses the same pins inside the plug.

Some will use the first two. Others the middle.

Even tho, the batteries have the pinout, pretty much the same, inverters play by their own rules.

If you let us know brands and model numbers I can tell you.

I wish they would all conform and go to CAN protocols. More reliable, faster speeds, and virtually unlimited node access ability.

As where UART is limited to 1 master 1 slave.
