Cell voltage oscillating...

It's been cold here..I have cells sitting in my shed..for various reasons the battery banks are not built,I top balanced the cells in the spring, and went to check the voltages as I finally have time to finish the builds, and the cells are oscillating in voltage a few times per second...from about 3.40 to 3.55...i checked my multimeter on some agms and the voltage is stable..so I'm presuming my meter is working .Is the cold weather affecting the cells and giving an unstable reading? They are envision 305s.Im hoping for the cells to heat up and give a stable reading ,anyones opinion would be welcome

Weird, but not impossible, what temperature? I'd check the battery in the DVM and check a 3-volt-ish source in the house, maybe even take one of the cells inside to warm up overnight and see what it's doing.

Are the cells under charge or load? 3.4 volts is 99+% SOC.
They've been sitting in my shed since I top balanced them last April.. unfortunately no load or charge since then,16 cells I brought up to 3.65 and 16 I brought up to 3.5 ish...ready to put into packs, then life had other plans for me. It has been hovering around zero degrees Celsius here,I think I need to buy a back up multimeter,I know electronics don't like the cold either..I've brought it into the house to warm up,the cells will have to sit in the shed till I bring a couple in to warm up tomorrow, thanks for getting back to me.

I'd try a different meter.
Thanks Bob,I think I will do that,my back ups are pretty unreliable..I have a Bremen meter...maybe I should buy something cheaper as a back up,like a Uni-t,I hope Bremen is ok...it was pricey enough.

It's been hovering around zero Celsius...cold for Ireland..it's warming up now,and wet,the cells have condensation on the blue outer covering, good idea,I will bring them into the house to warm up..I'm hoping my meter is playing up because of the cold, thanks for getting back to me.

Panic over ..the multimeter didn't like the cold, readings back to normal ...so that's a good thing to know, thanks everyone for your replies..👍

Sorry, it was the 9v battery in the multimeter, not the battery that I was testing, that was almost dead.
That's happened to many of us I'm sure...I spent days once trying to work out why a bank of agms were overcharged, thinking that I'd have to scrap them..only to realize that the 9v battery in the multimeter needed changing...I should have remembered this when the lifepo4 cells started giving weird readings...
