Thank you Will, for the videos, website and forum. The videos and website have helped me quite a bit in deciding how I wanted to build my power system in my 1973 Airstream which I tow with a 2010 GMC pick up. I am basing my system on "The Classic 400W solar package w/alternator charging" from DIY Mobile. I plan to install in stages.
Stage 1
Install: two Lion Energy 105 aH batteries (Costco sale), Renogy 2000W Inverter Charger (amazon prime day purchase), Victron Energy Smart Shunt amazon primeday), cables, breakers/fuses, etc.
Stage 2
Purchase and Install: Renogy 30A DC DC charger, solar panels, assorted cabling breakers/fuses
My question comes on Stage 2: my trailer power lead from the truck alternator is pretty small. It will not carry 30A. But I'm not sure it will pull that if I have the solar connected. I like the idea of continuing to charge the trailer batteries with my truck like I used to when I was running with the Optima blue top.
I fear I am overthinking this. Can I make this set up work? The only time I see the "The Classic 400W solar package w/alternator charging" installed it is in a motor home and not a trailer.
Thanks in advance,
