I have a 16S 48V 105AH Lifepo4 battery. This is a name-brand battery that came with the prismatic cells pre-welded.
I took the time to create images for what I wanted to discuss.
I currently use a power supply to top-balance my batteries.
I hook it up as shown in image 1. I can use multiple power supplies to charge multiple cells simultaneously or use a multimeter to read the voltage of a single cell.
I want to try something different. Is there any reason you can think of that the configuration in image 2 will not work? If I did it like this, I would spend less time moving the leads from battery to battery, and I think it would balance all four batteries equally.

So you want to put a short between the positive (and negative) terminals of batteries 1 and 2? How do you think the three batteries between 1 and 2 will react?

Please don't do this. Put your voltmeter between those points first.

Thank you. That is why I always ask first.
