Hi
I have a project where I have an S3 BMS and want to charge from a solar panel. I just want to power a sensor and a CAT-M modem, so not a massive amount of current required. There will be occasions when the solar panel wont be giving a large current (cloudy etc), is there an issue with a small amount of current being supplied to the BMS? There might be a few days when its cloudy .

Cheers

Most BMS require a connection to a battery. You didn't mention the battery.

The amount of current doesn't usually matter. However, some BMS aren't very accurate at measuring low amounts of current.

Will the system have a solar charge controller between the panel and 3S battery pack?
A BMS is normally used as a last resort protection charge disable switch, charge control should be inherent in the chargers.
Actual charge current is not important, correct control of charge voltage is important.
Maximum charge current depends on solar panel power and solar charge controller settings.
