Yeah, I know, it's not generally advised. But right now you can get 12V 100ah batteries for half the price of 24V, and unlike 48V racks the 24s don't include extra features for the price.
(I'd actually like to know why all these cheap cells are going into identical LiFumeDimSim 12V packs, and not dropping prices of other types as much. Anyone know? Are there good deals on 100Ah cell packs and BMSes to build my own 24V pack?)
To set and forget series batts you ideally want an active balancer, right?
If I don't bother, checking with a multimeter at various states of charge should be enough of an indicator to top-balance them individually with my power supply?
Just trying to make best use of the gear I've got, to get more out of my victron SCC and avoid buying & wiring a large 12V inverter that might pull 200A.
A 2kw/24V is more expensive, but much more sensible imo.
That said, if people recommend DIYing a 24V pack instead, I could also reuse my 12V batts for a DC UPS.
Edit: or I could buy a 24V/100Ah DChouse battery on temu for like $180, wow
