I was getting sketched out tightening and loosening the bolts on my 12V 100Ah Amazon batteries with an uninsulated box end wrench. I have some that are M8 bolts and use a 13mm wrench and some that are 5/16" bolts and use a 1/2" wrench. But thankfully those sizes are so close that a 1/2" wrench works for the M8 bolts perfectly. In my area thrift shops have drawers of loose single wrenches for under $1 each.

So I took an angle grinder and zipped off one end and put 2 layers of heat shrink over the handle. Easy and almost free.

Thanks for pointing this out!

How's the saying go? "Don't step over a dollar to save a penny"

EG: even if you had to buy a new combo wrench for the extravagant price of $10 the replacement cost of the $500(?) battery you didn't risk ruining, or your house that you didn't burn down pales in comparison.

Electrical tape would accomplish the same goal without cutting the end off.

I like the self amalgamating butyl tape even better.

No matter how you do it, safety first.
