Cheap Chinese junk: I'll trow my 3 Daly controllers in the garbage bin. ANGRY!!!

staying on topic, DALY BMS <100 seem to work but not programmable? the stories of random failures especially of high amp models have kept me away thus far

JBD BMS 100-120A are my preferred alternative, programmable safety voltages, and UART serial which can communicate with arduino directly and avoid bluetooth entirely. but some DIY code required still.
Depending on the number of cells, for the 12v models, I prefer the 150 amp version. But the one you prefer is best for higher voltages (24v to 48v). Definitely fewer problems and more interface options.

may i ask for more info about the 150A JBD? perhaps it came out in the past year? that sounds nice.

there was only 120A for 12V/4S and 100A for 24V/8S 48V/16S JBD back at the time i sourced them (memory might be mistaken)

(building 4S and 8S banks; 48V too spooky for this noob :))

My inverter wifi uses a server based in China.
They can't see me, but they know all about my off grid solar system.
But my Google nests listen in my home and report directly to the USA.
I assume you are a new comer to networking?
In what way is it "using a server from China"?"

Also rated for use in series up to 48v (they use 80v rated parts).

They also have a 200 amp model not rated for series use (uses 30v rated parts).

I like them much better than the Daly models.

so this has quickly turned into a chinese bashing topic, way to go !

no sense in reminding you all the us is by far the biggest datacollecting and privacy basher in the world i gather ?

come on, get off you high horses here
I live here not in China.

I don’t excuse my own government of doing it but a foreign country?
Uhh no.

Hey you and I are in the same boat brother. Newb is not a term I an unfamiliar with ;)
I still think we and experts alike will benefit from something open source that is easy to cusomize to what ever it needs to be doing.

In many ways I think you have a valid point.

let' me try to get back on topic whilst keeping Dali in the loop.

I started derailing when I had to buy cheap stuff because I can't afford the good stuff yet. Wether it being BMS or IP camera.
and even the good stuff is not always good stuff we have seen earlier.

So I guess that what I am trying to say is that we are kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place.
i just hope soon there will be open source projects BMS or other types of devices that we can all use.

I will contribute my wind turbine design once it sees the light of day.
you should look at stewart pittaway's diybms..
very good bms, wish i was better at soldering

thank you!

80V rated MOSFET, that's a very valuable feature to me, even working with 24V system. more overhead before magic smoke ?

if/when it comes to sourcing more, i'll be sure to look out for the updated one with 150A rating and 80V rated MOSFET. cheers

still working on the DIY wired JBD BMS networking ?

i just want to use ethernet cables to connect data from BMS to some central thing. haven't found an ethernet adaptor for JBD yet.

for DIY with arduino, teensy 4.1 microcontroller with ethernet plug is one option i'm seriously considering. another is adafruit qtpy samd21 plus sparkfun qwiicbus (also uses ethernet wires, but not compatible with normal ethernet network)

if anyone knows of easy ways to network BMS with ethernet cables or something similar, please share :)

points is, all of them are doing it.
we live in an information age, get used to it, but stop the childish bashing

or you meant bend over and take it?

I can share some of my techniques to give the big tech a run for their data if one is interested to learn
i'm in it security myself , comming from networking, i'm pretty capable myself, however dont ever be illutioned that theu wont find a way to track none the less .
it's not the big tech you should worry about though.. three letter agency's of any country are the scary onrs, you wont be able to hide from

Childish bashing is when they find out your DL #.
When they are actively implanting chips to find out and control Government action or use civilian infrastructure to monitor the movement of a population not belonging to their own then that’s a problem.

I am fairly new to the field so max respect to guys like you!.

I do tend to take things quite a bit more extreme though.

For example I can change my public IP(4) address at will without even using a VPN.
I have several VPS nodes spread across the globe I use to reverse proxy traffic into critical servers.

I have not 1 but 3 phones. 1 of them running linux as to make sure things stay trusted.
Yeah yeah I know android is what people also called linux but let me say this. read more!!!

When I take a look at the corn hub I make sure to put on my onion hat. There is no denying boys. We all look at specialist fora from time to time.

I hope we dont need to explain the vast difference in the levels of oppression between China and the US. I will admit I dont know exactly how it works there but I got a pretty good idea from the footage of the protests in Hong Kong. That **** doesnt happen here.
That is all the off topic I will go.

you mean like the nsa did in cisco a juniper networking equipment , had that installed at a belgian datacenter and used it to spy on the EU ?

Note, those are allies ..
