Not an expert but this seemed like the best place for some question that someone could answer with the info I provide hopefully...

I was given a LG Resu 10 with a sunny boy 3.8. I didn't ever install them. Long story short, I opened the battery to see what was inside.

It had:
SIX 24v lithium batteries connected in series.
DC/DC converter I don't use...if anyone one might be interested photo below

One battery was bulging that I set aside....how do I dispose of it??
no one will take it and a battery bag for recycling is really expensive.

I took FOUR of them and made a battery bank by pairing them in series then parallel for 48v and have them connected to a POWMR 5k. they are doing good running all my appliances and last quite sometime after dark even with washer dryer refrigerators etc.

I have ONE in my studio with a 24v inverter and controller doing good.

main questions:
what type of BMS do I get for the 48v battery bank and
what seperate BMS for the individual 24v battery?
I’m not sure how these individual batteries are set up internally with cells.

photos
-individual battery (might give clue to BMS type needed)
-dc/dc converter (used with 6 batteries with BMS in there somewhere)
-battery bank ( 2S2P not sure if that’s correct battery code but two sets of two batteries in series and those two sets in parallel - FOUR 24v batteries series/parallel

So you found some of the 24V packs good?

I would suggest reassembling the LG RESU with the bad packs, then take the assembly to an e-waste recycling place.
If they won't accept it, contact LG and ask them what to do with it.
Or look up lithium battery recyclers. We see videos, but whether any are available to consumers I don't know.

Look up the serial number on LG website, see if it is recalled. If so, see what you can get LG to do.

I have one LG RESU-10H type C which I'm using with SMA SBS, and one type R which I can't use (meant for other brand inverters.)

BMS - how many cells for 24V and for 48V battery?
It may be same cells as Chevy Bolt. Search the forum for people using Bolt packs.

I'm using JK PB series for LiFePO4. They support a number of different cell counts.
