CHINA kills all non Sol-Ark branded DEYE unit in the USA this morning.

If you own one of these I would wait a bit and see if brain boards become available for them. There has got to be a black market that pops up with these for sale for a few hundred dollars or less.
They ( owners that got bricked ) already have the hardware, the dongles have local http access with menus and the ability to load firmware, just find one file online ( takes about 1 minute ) and load an older version.

Likely, it will be the "installers" that do this as likely the end-users are not familiar with the process

For the interest of the environment, would Sol-Ark consider also selling a licensed tag for the bricked units? It's sad to see them heads toward a landfill.
That would make the most sense and be the fastest. Someone pays a fee and gets a code + a Sol-Ark sticker to apply to the device. I would doubt the hardware is different, it would only be the firmware that is different. If I had one of these units I would not take up Sol-Ark's offer, I would be done with Deye and since Deye makes the Sol-Ark hardware, done with Sol-Ark. Sol-Ark deal is a great deal for Deye, technically Deye sold the original inverter (and made a profit) and then Deye gets profit on replacement Sol-Ark inverter.

I thought the same when I read this:

"for the period from November 15, 2024 through December 31, 2024, Sol-Ark will permit each consumer household that has installed a Deye-branded inverter and has had that inverter’s functions disabled by Deye, to purchase a new Sol-Ark inverter of equivalent performance at a substantially discounted price."

How stupid do they think consumers are?
If Sol-Ark can get away with this what is stopping them from charging you a monthly fee to use their inverter I would never take them up on this for that reason. Also if you think Sol-Arc had nothing to do with this I have a bridge for sale

So, 2 days in, 500+ messages and no one from UK with Deye issues?

What strikes me as odd is that Deye have inverters approved for connection to the UK grid as well as Sunsynk-branded ones. In order to achieve that they will have actively put products through testing procedures, which doesn't make sense if they don't aim to compete against Sunsynk
interesting,
I have been following the thread and have not seen ANY UK members comment on a bricked Deye - not yet anyway.
If Deye and SunSynk are both approved in UK, maybe they sell side by side - without 300% markup.
@SeaGal - do you know the price spread between same/similar model Deye and Sunsynk in UK - it would be interesting to know.

There is one problem with that I think that back door has been in there from day one.

maintenance fee maybe. Like a virus, ransomware protection program.

We just have to wait to see which region gets attacked next.
I think US is the only region where the price markup is very high.
Other regions, the price difference between authorized distributors and from China is probably not much and therefore is not worthwhile to not buying from their local distributors.
So this problem is maybe unique to US and PR.

Very close to the same.
While it is fair game that SolArk works out a distribution contract with Deye for specific geographical areas, it does smell bad that the price difference between the SolArk and a similar/identical Deye sold by other venders is so high.
I agree SolArk has service and support costs, but how much should that add to the price, and what is fair mark-up?

Ethics-wise you are literally shutting down equipment homeowners paid for and depend on to fit some twisted business strategy.
literally seeing dozens of people call me all morning, and I never even sold Deye

Back to the first post, Are we all now in a complete agreement that James didn't make up this story?
Any nay sayer?

They had a corner on the market for 2 years. (No competition)
So, they set out to milk it for all that they could.

But you just said Sol-Ark has nothing to do with it. Make up your mind.
No I said I doubt sol-ark directly did this and its not their responsibility to do it. They paid for exclusive rights to this market and to not have the manufacturer selling these particular units here.
