CHINA kills all non Sol-Ark branded DEYE unit in the USA this morning.

James said 'China' was behind it. - China is a country, (Deye is a corporation). James offered no evidence of who was behind it. That is slander.
James said "kills all non sol ark branded Deye units" again without evidence. This is un-true, but not slander.
I didn't read his original post before he edited it so I didn't know what he said at first. But as Deye is a wholly owned Chinese company saying China was behind it is mere semantics. I agree it's pretty much a real cluster F for any Chinese inverter company.

This is not a surprise.

People have known not to buy or use Deye spilt phase Inverters in US for years.
this is about the stupidest comment i have seen in this whole thread... who you work for SOALRK? If I moved from Japan to the US and some of my gear happened to be a deye inverter mounted on my camper trailer whose business is that you stupid muppet.

the only people who did wrong was Deye and SOLARK. there are too many possibilities for a person who does not live in the US or any of the areas affected by SOLARK's greedy fucked up practices for a "lets brick them all as a response"

I didn't see the post early enough then. To not be slander, he would need proof - evidence. none provided. Maybe that is WHY he edited the post, and ran off.
The situation doesn't reflect well on any inverter manufacturer/seller.
I'm not sure if you have to present truth at the time of accusation in order to be safe from slander. It merely needs to be found true when the lawsuits start flying. It would be interesting if Deye/Sol-Ark sued.. because then some emails might have to come out. You probably couldn't manage to get any emails from Deye (being Chinese), but you sure as heck should be able to get them from Sol-Ark.

I said this before:

“What I have been told in the past is Sol-Ark penalized Deye for millions because some of the Deye inverters made it to US (or other?) markets. So Deye got serious and started cracking down on Chinese distributors customers.”
Fixed.

Why? Sol-ark inverters are not effected by this.
If anybody ever asks me, I'll suggest they get themselves a nice Midnite Solar The One. I would suggest a Victron, but they don't exactly make an AIO for easy installation (yeah, I know about that turd of an AIO they have that is just a metallic shell around their other regular separates).

Because it is now known that the hardware/firmware can be remotely bricked by the vendor (or eventually, hackers).
I almost consider it ransomware. Pay up for your new inverter…
Every internet connect inverter on the market can be done that way. ALL of them.

That's one of the reason myself and others do not let our inverters have direct internet access :)

That's true. But so far, we've only heard of one company actually doing it.

In principle, yes, this this true.
But this is the first one where it really happened and people are rightfully upset.

No argument from me on that!

You couldn't pay me to recommend sol-ark from the price point alone.

I just hate seeing a company that did what they were supposed to do via a contract with a manufacturer and then the manufacturer doesn't stand behind the contract that they agreed to. But I guess this is that manufacturer starting to stand behind the contract now.

Every single deye inverter that has been bricked since they entered into that contract and goes against the contract should be eligible for a full refund via deye.

You know, I just cannot imagine Papa Smurf (Vader, not eggo) doing something like this to the little smurfs.
The corporate reputation is too valuable.

The worst I’ve seen is Victron go after MPPT knockoffs using their cloned firmware with invalid serial numbers.

Who's to say they won't disable if you leave a negative review or for any arbitrary reason at all?
or they could "do stuff", like slow down your unit, and make the battery not last as long as it used to, and hype a new greater and better model that costs more...and needs a different charger plug. (oh that is another company, sorry got side tracked there for a minute)

Those knockoffs are funny. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all.
