CHINA kills all non Sol-Ark branded DEYE unit in the USA this morning.

Oops, now they know how to get us.
This is what makes me learly about my JK BMS, without bluetooth and location on, it won't connect to the BMS. China always wants to know too much information, as dictated by the PRC

edit: Might need to get a screen instead of always checking from my phone

It's already too late, really.
From this point forward, everyone will be warned about Deye products. And to never connect them to the internet. No matter what brand they are sold under.
Only if we keep reminding them. There are many people on here that are seemingly ok with what Deye did to "protect" themselves and will be fine recommending their gear.

The fact that they can and will without conscience, is the thing to be worried about.
Next time the reason could be that they don't like the increased tariffs.

Actually, I haven't read anything about anyone being OK with it. Understanding why is not acceptance.

If they want to make their inverters location specific, it should be on the label and not work from the start.
The main issue is that they shut down customers inverters, that have been up and running. Some, for over 2 years. These customers have no recourse with the seller. Their only option now, is a class action suit with the manufacturer that attacked them. And it's a PR nightmare for all distributors of Deye products.
This was a huge mistake in my opinion. And if they don't correct it quickly, I believe that they will all suffer greatly.
The location specification is the model number when you go to the deye website.

Can you not read tone in messages?

"Understanding why is not acceptance" my ass.

I understand why, and I made it perfectly clear that I don't accept.

How many people on this forum (outside of those with no power grid access) would have solar if they had to pay Made in the USA prices for it? I personally buy Made in the USA when possible, but there are times I simply can't afford to pay up to four times as much for USA made items, or the items aren't made in the USA anymore.
My made in usa inverters are dead. I even had one repaired twice and gave up when it died the third time (aims claims its usa made).

My chinese stuff works and is powering my house.

Weak argument on this front for me.

Deye could do a buy back. Lowball the price and you pay for shipping.
Then they could sell a shitload of refurbished units.
Or, they could just supply the code to the affected consumers and penalize the companies that sold them against their contract with Deye. That seems a much easier solution that is better for everybody from a waste and pointless busy work standpoint.

Is assembled in the USA something to be proud of? I thought it was made in the USA to look for? Who cares if they soldered a few wires or glued a piece of glass onto some cells sourced from China here in the USA. We want the actual manufacturing of the cells themselves done here, right?

Just an FYI: I just yesterday spoke with a Thai who formerly worked in an electronics factory here in Thailand that assembled electronic components for China. So that "Made in China" might actually be outsourced from China to somewhere else!

Sol-Ark doesn't win in that scenario. And good luck going after the companies. They'll just create new companies.

You might look into IOTA's products. I'm not sure what they have for solar inverters, but their battery chargers were top quality. They have some inverters--not sure what the specs on them are. Link HERE. You might also check out there "About us" page (linked at the bottom) to see their American heritage.

Interesting
Then, I would like to know what model numbers have been attacked.

Would this one get shutdown?

I doubt Deye would ever put a sticker. But the forum can still do something about this. For example, a moderator like @Supervstech could pin a warning somewhere visible on the forum to alert people of the threat this kind of behavior poses. An alert like that would send a strong message to Deye and their partners that attacks of this kind will not be tolerated, and could put a serious dent in their sales.
Care to hazard a guess as to the ratio on unauthorized Deye inverter sales into the US versus authorized Solark sales?

I’m not even sure it reaches 1%…

There is not a single reputable solar installer who installs Deye inverters here while there are many that install Solark.

Yep, Chinese companies try to circumvent US and EU tariff by box-it-in asian countries.
Wait until trump finds out about this tactic.
many Chinese solar companies do this. I'm very sure that some day Deye (mad in Thailand or vietnam) will happen when trump tariff kicks in.

I'm not concerned about Sol-Ark, if they feel they are financially harmed by Deye allowing other distributors to sell stuff in their exclusive territory, they need to take that up with Deye. They did it once, they can do it again.

I'm concerned about the customers whose property was made inoperable by Deye.

If Deye is letting it's equipment be distributed by companies that are violating their Deye contract and it is unable to financially penalize them, then maybe Deye needs to reconsider how they distribute their equipment. Contracts between Deye and their distributors are between Deye and their distributors, nothing gives them the right to mess with property that isn't theirs. They don't own those inverters that are out in the field, and I don't want to hear anything stupid about them owning the software on it, making it fair game.
