Deye remotely locked out end users from using Deye inverters they purchased. Can someone give a TL;DR (I already read a crap load here) of what has actually happened?
Were there any SolArk devices locked out? I have no skin in the game besides having a 15K powering my house (dongle with no connectivity).
Nice synopsesDeye remotely locked out end users from using Deye inverters they purchased.
The "ransom screen" tells them to contact Sol-Ark if in the US.
It asks for a five-digit code to remove the lockout.
Then 57 pages of conversation and intrigue and corporate positioning followed, occupying nearly ball of our time over the weekend.![]()

And finger pointing, lots and lots of finger-pointing.
One reported, but not confirmed. As long as it's not connected to the internet, it's safe. Were there any SolArk devices locked out? I have no skin in the game besides having a 15K powering my house (dongle with no connectivity).
Except that Deye hasn't officially said anything, and we are blaming them for this occurring based on the KISS principle.Nice synopses
I'll gladly update my post if they deny it was them. Occam's razor applies.Except that Deye hasn't officially said anything, and we are blaming them for this occurring based on the KISS principle.![]()
I talked to the Head Engineer Yesterday and No Sol-Ark units were locked out.One reported, but not confirmed. As long as it's not connected to the internet, it's safe.
I don't buy that. Besides if your inverter is connected to the internet it can be compromised from any number of bad actors.Deye does not have access to Sol-Arks Inverters
You beat me to it.is this fake?

It does not matter what you want to do or think you can do.Good Morning everyone, Yesterday Luxpower's founder James Wang and myself decided it is necessary to make it clear that both of our companies believe in the absolute rights of customers who have bought inverters from any sales channel of any kind. As an off grid user myself since I was 15 I cannot imagine waking up one morning to find that a company or companies had decided I no longer had the "privilege to use my inverter" and violated my trust of their web services by locking out the inverter my family depended on.
I hope more companies can make statements like these and even the offending ones reconsider their actions and correct their position in favor of the rights of end users.
Jointly signed statement attached
Joint Statement by EG4 Electronics and Luxpowertek
Date: 11/18/24
Subject: Response to Market Outrage Over Unauthorized "Kill Code" Incident
Dear Valued Customers, Partners, and Stakeholders,
In recent days, the off-grid power community has been deeply disturbed by the actions of a prominent backup inverter manufacturer, who has been reported to have disabled hybrid inverters through the use of a "kill code" causing owner’s systems to shut down. Onscreen messages referencing “exclusivity” deals have further confused and upset many.
We want to be clear:, The rights of homeowners and consumers must never be undermined. Homeowners who have purchased hybrid inverters have done so with the expectation of a fully functional product for its lifetime and not subject to external control or disabling. While manufacturer are free to enter into business agreements and distribution deals, failure to execute the plans and agreements is a matter for them to resolve and should not impact the end customer.
As joint developers of hybrid inverters and manufacturing partners in the U.S. market, EG4 Electronics and Luxpowertek stand firm in our commitment to the rights of homeowners. We unequivocally assert that manufacturers never have the right to sabotage or disable inverters that have already been sold to customers. Your inverter is your property, and we, as developers and testers, will continue to provide software improvements at no cost to you, the hardware owner.
We wish to make it absolutely clear that neither EG4 Electronics nor Luxpowertek have ever, or will ever, place any unauthorized software or "kill codes" in any hardware sold through any channel, at any time. This is a fundamental principle that guides our partnership.
As we continue to grow our joint partnership in the U.S. market, both companies remain committed to supporting our customers. While stable market strategies sometimes are needed eventually in building steady quality and making local jobs, We will continue to share software improvements, updates, and advancements freely, as a token of our appreciation for the role that all Luxpowertek-based customers have played in supporting our companies. Together, we are advancing the dream of creating more accessible, reliable, and affordable technology for all.
We appreciate your continued trust and support as we remain steadfast in our mission to provide high-quality products and service without compromise.
I knew you were buddy buddies with them by the amount of Sol-Ark love you have and absolute hate towards their competition.I talked to the Head Engineer Yesterday

Historically black frame was SolArk and gray frame was Deye, so the assumption would make sense. However as pointed out the Deye 12k is a black frame also. Are you saying this is proof that Solark users are having their inverter disabled? As far as I can see, this shows no branding of any kind.

Do they pay you too?
I get being a fan of a company but I really seriously wonder at times if you're paid by them or something.
Its also the one and only post that person made on the forum and hasn't been back since...Historically black frame was SolArk and gray frame was Deye, so the assumption would make sense. However as pointed out the Deye 12k is a black frame also.
That, and the poster says it is a SolArk. Could be confused. But it is right on the front panel so...
Buttons sure look different from the screen of the claimed Sol-Ark.
Democrats lost the last election with that tactic.I knew you were buddy buddies with them by the amount of Sol-Ark love you have and absolute hate towards their competition.
