CHINA kills all non Sol-Ark branded DEYE unit in the USA this morning.

If your inverter does not show up as being Offline on the Device List screen in Powerview then you are not completely migrated off of Powerview.

Yeah well the CCP also controls Deye the same way they control Luxpower.
You won't see Mr. Wang come on here and make any statement that says he will alert you if the CCP decides to shutdown your 18KPv Inverter and for all his talk James has no ability to stop it or even know when if it is coming.
That was the Big reason why Sol-Ark parted ways with Deye on Firmware and all Chinese software and server hosting.
I use to think this crap would never happen, but it's already started.
I could see Mr. Wang coming on here and saying that. What difference would it make it if he says it or not? I would imagine that when the thugs tell him to do it or else he and his family will be unhappy, he'll do what he's told. That's assuming he doesn't approve of it and is willing to do it anyway. He might be a true Chinese patriot. Why shouldn't he be as patriotic about his country as we are about ours?

I don't particularly believe Sol-Ark has written their own firmware. I suppose I would believe it if I were allowed to spend a day at Sol-Ark with their programming team and get to look at the code, firmware compiling process and manufacturing/assembly line. I don't need to do this with EG4, because they aren't claiming such things. Maybe Will could go up there and do a video on it, I'm not sure what his experience is with software development, but he has much more clout than me, that's for certain.

"Will Prowse documents the making of a Sol-Ark inverter, from bits to bolts." @Will Prowse You can have that title for free !

Call Sol-Ark. I left my dongle in during migration but I know many people hesitated and pulled it out and put it back in later. It seems like some people did not get a clean migration.
I've only removed pulled my dongle for a few minutes and that was within the last 2 months. That was on 1 of 3 systems.

I requested a support ticket.

Update: Tech support removed my systems from PowerView.

There is something incomplete about the migration. On another matter, while communicating with tech support, I discovered that I could no longer see "SHARE", that is where you allow someone else basic access or management rights. Tech support was able to correct this. Also, you have a feature that allows you to see past setting changes you have made. I don't have that. This migration is very piecemeal.

Ya know you really cannot make this Shit up.

I am looking at EG4 Letter Pledging "not to shutdown Inverters" and then I cannot believe I am seeing the Luxpower CEO Mr James Wang stamp the letter with a Chinese CCP business Stamp! This is hilarious.

In case you have never seen one here is an actual clear sample. The 18 digit number is your CCP business registration number.
Please Mr. Wang why don't you write us a letter telling us you will defy or at least give us advanced warning if the CCP tells Luxpower to shutdown all EG4 Inverters in the United States.

I find support for @robby 's assertions here. He didn't post a link to where he found the included image of an example seal--the following article has it, along with a fuller explanation of what a CCP company seal is and how it is tightly regulated.

The statement is legally binding with an official seal, it is actionable in courts in the USA as well as in China, what it does guarantee is that nobody involved in the making of our hardware will ever harm private property in the pursuit of business deals. This is important as a chinese document as those property rights are not so clear there and DEYE apparently does not recognize them. I shudder to thing what happens if they and their American label ever get side-ways.

robby's CCP comment was hilarious given that Deye was the first time I saw a CCP delegation at a company.

I don't find anything "hilarious" about this.

Because we are not in a state of war with the CCP I think it is presently more important to highlight protections against manufacturers violating private property rights. You are diverting from your guys who will not confirm that your inverter belongs to you, not them.

It's uncleared who locked it and who ahs to unlock it.
This Deye Sol Ark relationship is weird.
BTW does Sol Ark exclusivity include all Deye products (ie. the mini -split that EG4 sells)?

Sorry to Break it to you but you are Wrong!

I found this interesting. I ended up removing my 15K from being able to talk over the network. I started a PCAP just to see what it was doing and it was trying to talk to 2 IPs. One at AWS and the other to China.

What I'd really love is some sort of Web Application Firewall to allow it to share stats but not accept changes/firmware, etc. IE: Like a read-only mode.

Nobody wants to see this happening! I also pulled my dongle just in case

OMG, if the deye answer above is true, that means they've already given the unlock code to Sol Ark.

Pulling your dongle is good stress relief.
The problem is what happens if you put the dongle back in. It seems one cannot just pull it--one has to remove any further option to install it in the socket. Maybe just put some hot glue there to prevent its insertion? Of course, this complete disconnection carries over to being unable to communicate with the unit in other ways. Worth it?

I guess if one is stuck with one of these vulnerable units, one has to do what one has to do--just to ensure it will continue to operate. Best, from this point forward, not to invest in one of these compromised pieces.

You are not properly migrated over. Call Sol-Ark.
If you look back at my old posts I was just as hesitant as most of you about Migrating over to MySolArk, I almost "pulled my Dongle 😏"just so I was not in the first batch.
IMO back then Powerview worked better and I honestly think that it still works a lot better than MySolArk because of the little bugs still in MySolArk.
On top of that I never gave a cyber war between China and the USA much credence.
I figured their would be weeks of warning as tensions rose. As I pointed out in a thread three days before this Deye Shutdown, I had changed my Mind on a Cyber attack from China after seeing how Israel had Completely crippled Lebanon and Hezbollah with Just a single attack on Pagers.
I think that China watched that closely and if, when they decide to attack Taiwan they absolutely know they will be at War with the USA.
Trump being in office means the Kids Gloves are off, so the Chinese will use what they got to cripple America before they loose the ability to use it effectively. Now if Mr. Wang would give us a heads up when the CCP issues the orders, we could disconnect all of our stuff before the kill commands get sent out.

You could just put some sort of cover over the dongle to keep it safe and make it unable to deliver it's payload during insertion attempts.

You mean another one of James Mystery messages that has no one reputable that will come forward to verify it.
Have you not fallen for this stuff enough times?
How would Sol-Ark have any codes to unlock Deye units?

I didn't cut off communication until this past Sunday after I started reading this stuff about Deye. I logged back into powerview and all the data there was months old, it still had my total production at 2Mw and I'm over 12 now.

How would Sol-Ark have any codes to unlock Deye units?
Maybe the codes are kept in a big book of CCP secrets and they got a copy of them through their secret spy contact while touring the factory in China?

It seems that those wanting energy independence via solar inverters must be skilled these days at routing. A private VLAN/VPN system to prevent the inverter from having any access to the internet would help. If the inverter has adjustable DHCP settings in it, would changing the gateway to some non-routable address (127.0.0.1 for example) prevent its connection with China, while still leaving it open to local communications?

No, Sir. But I grew up in Puerto Rico. Knowing the situation there with the power grid, and low income/wages, I can see how people could turn to inverters brands like Deye to try to make the most out each buck. My father in law installed a solar system in the aftermath of cat 1 hurricane. Luckily for him the installer who sold him the system installed a Sol-Ark inverter. However, being a retired disabled Vietnam vet on a budget, he could have fallen victim of this situation due to a purchase he made during desperate times a couple of years ago. I’m glad that’s not the case for him, but I imagine that this is the case for many people on the island that have to endure an unreliable grid on one of the highest power costs nationwide, and now this to compound their problems.

It's not as if Deye and Sol-Ark should be in competition. Sol-Ark buys its product line from Deye, if I'm not misunderstanding things. This talk about Sol-Ark suing Deye seems strange to my ear because it is tantamount to biting the hand that feeds. If Deye is providing Sol-Ark with its product, why would it not also provide the unlock codes?
