CHINA kills all non Sol-Ark branded DEYE unit in the USA this morning.

By the way, the faked accounts or other faked supporting evidence is traceable back to the source. I have worked with teams to do so in the past. Even taking care to use a VPN, cookies, account verification, browser identification and many other methods can be used to track it all down. Some of the craziest stuff I have tracked down I can't fully say, but I can say it was through multiple ISPs, fake accounts, email burners, spoofed locations, IPs, the whole works. We still got them in the end.

IMO Sol-Ark is guilty by action, omission and/or association. This was an act of corporate greed, as well as emotional and financial terrorism executed by Deye and prompted/sanctioned by Sol-Ark.
What corporate greed? They paid (damn good money I would imagine) for the rights/privilege to have EXCLUSIVE rights to a given territory for a product. The manufacturer should of had the product UN-commisionable without proving location if they are going to enforce this after entering into a contract with a company for exclusive rights. Its either ignore the problem or do something about it which they chose to do.

Sol-ark did nothing wrong in this by wanting/demanded/suing (if needed) to protect that agreement. The OEM caused this no matter how its twisted.

If anything Deye in my opinion owes a full refund to the people effected since they decided to turn off those people's product.

Sol-ark doesn't owe squat.

Trust me if Sig solars inverter started showing up in the market for 1/3 the price of what they charge they would be singing a very different toon right now.

Sol-ark's entire biz model is based around that product they have a contract for. I think its TOTALLY overpriced but that's my opinion which keeps me from wanting to buy one since there is no way I would pay that much for that many watts. But that's what is cool about a free market.

You as a consumer has the right and privilege to not buy their product for any reason at all. Cool isn't it :)

But nowhere do they have any obligations to something about something they didn't sell.

Want Sol-ark to care, be responsible and or help? Buy a Sol-ark inverter.

What good is having the IP if you don’t know where that IP is located?
IP are issued with a location registered to them. There are problems with this in the UK where IP's are bought on the secondary market and used in the UK before their location is updated and so blocked from UK only services until the location is amended to UK.

Look at your internet router and put its outside facing IP address into this site

And you normally will get the info of your internet provider as they will have provided your external IP address.

[conspiracy theory]
Are we all barking up the wrong tree and the whole debacle was initiated by Solar Assistant to boost sales
[/conspiracy theory]

I just ordered the kit for SA, must have worked with me :)
Just ran across this Vid on How John Deere is robbing farmers of Billions a year with similar extortion tactics, that seem to have become the "New Norm" for greedy corporations. They say Apple was the model that most all are copying today.

It's a good thing I am an old fart, because if I faced what these farmers are facing I would go postal 4 sure! Just had not realized until now how utterly evil people can be when they want more more more.... This is just the tip of a VERY LARGE iceberg....

This is why I always recommend folks download any computer based software the Inverter or Battery manufacturer provides and spend the money if required to get the correct communications cable.

It is also why I have always owned an OBD-II scanner for any vehicle I own. I have saved thousands of dollars by using the scanner and fixing simple problems, in many cases clearing the check engine light is enough, it was a one time error.

What many might find interesting is that the software in the video as well as an OBD-II scanner all connect via a CAN bus. Same communications used in the solar industry. Just need to know how to pull the data from whatever device you are having issues with.

The problem here as I see it, while the "FIX" may seem apparent and easy to some, others of us just want to be able to live our life, and use our stuff we bought without becoming an IT expert.

I suspect that when it hits your wallet... Most do not require you to become an IT expert, just the willingness to self educate in order to save money. Often the capability to do so is free or significantly less costly than the take it to the shop approach. Got to save money any way I can so I can afford more solar stuff.

Indeed, our new (to us) boat has a mysterious new-fangled NMEA2000 communications bus that everything talks to everything else with. Oh, wait, that's CAN. 🤓

Now that I think about it, one option for the security system is that the engine won't run (past idle?) unless it's heading back towards it's harbor. :devilish:

So you are the lithium smuggler to the Caribbean 🤣

The code of conduct seems to be getting ignored since EG4, their consultants, Sig Solar, and others advertise new products, trade in promotions, and sometimes even conduct PR hit jobs backed up with fake images.

I mean look at the timeline here from an impartial standpoint:
  • EG4 CEO posts about something with an unknown spread, pins it on a competitor.
  • Edits post to remove some of the more direct barbs pinning it to competition, but not until the ball is rolling
  • Talk starts about competitor units getting bricked, along with OEMs, this is pushed back on by some more discerning members here
  • EG4 CEO "finds" image and story to "back up" the original narrative, which turns out to be a complete fabrication
  • Releases letter trumpeting their stance on this amped up situation of unknown scope.
With zero defense of other brands, it only takes a little bit of critical thinking to determine that something stinks.

How does this help the solar community? It distracts from finding the scope of a real issue, and starts a brand war among those who have nothing to gain by bashing their fellow forum members.

I am all for saving money! But, some (possibly more than you may realize) are not willing to spend 10 hours a week maintaining all our stuff with the latest updates and hacks.

Personally I would choose to not spend over 2 - 4 hours annually with this crap.
No Luddite here, but those Amish folks have a LOT of very sound ideas about the beauty of simplicity...

And @Will Prowse removes those warns/temp bans in response.

And by doing that that, they shoot themselves in the foot.

These guys should think real hard about getting into poly ticks, huh?

I vote we get the original post removed and until actual facts are corroborated by "legit" sources, we should move on from the topic. As stated before, the turd on the wheel continues to spin and is more than likely breaking loose and hitting some folks in the eye.

Yes, I agree there can be issues at times (as I mentioned earlier where my Starlink IP said I was in Indonesia), but it is a widely used method for identifying location. don't see any other way Deye could have targeted only certain countries.

I find the most disturbing part of this whole situation to be the complete lack of a response from Deye. They still haven't come out and confirmed why the inverters of paying customers are being bricked with no compensation / update code provided. It's completely unacceptable.

(It's possible I've missed the response from Deye in all of this)
