Yeah it was a great video! I suppose it needed to be said... I've always loved Chinese products, they made it easy for many of my DIY projects, they were the only ones in the world who made modular electronic boards I could put together projects for automation without having to design my own project boards from scratch. They could bring me all sorts of ready-made gear at a huge discount. If US thinks we can do better, then let's get going at it! Otherwise, I will keep buying things from China I can't find anywhere else.
I agree with what he said about going to the library and reading books. I am a self-educated student of everything. Back before we had a useful Internet (think 80's), I would go to the library and check out books on mechanics, taught myself how to work on automotive, heavy equipment, worked on farms and in repair shops, and became ASE Certified Master Tech (A1-A8, F1), and worked in that industry for many years.
Years later, changing careers, I taught myself about computers and then got jobs in the IT tech industry, became a VMware Certified Professional, now I work on developing one of the top cutting-edge enterprise hyper-converged virtualization infrastructure solutions on the market. Taught myself solar, automotive CNG, hydrogen, many other alternative energy technologies, etc. You don't need to go to college anymore to do well in life. You can learn anything you desire all too easy now, just a little curiosity with some faith in yourself is all you need.
As far as the weight loss thing, perhaps that needed to be said too. It is a hard thing to take personal responsibility for. I used to be up to 227 lbs about 8 years ago, and I got sick of having pain in my back, knees, and ankles, so I switched from big plates to little plates, counted calories, got more active, and it took me about 8 months, and have been around 165 lbs ever since.
It's the best thing I ever did for myself, being lighter again, makes me more active and gives me more motivation to do anything I want in life, nothing killed my motivation more than carrying around unneeded weight. I had to be extra careful because I broke my back and ankles before (5 vertebrae in my back, and 2 joints in each of my ankles are surgically fused) carrying around extra weight is very hard on my bones... I love being able to be brisk going up and down steps again. I still can't really run very well due to my previous injuries (kind of a funny looking hobble), but I tell you that life is much better being to the best I can of fit...
I feel about 20 years younger than I used to when I was packing around the extra weight. It wasn't hard as I thought to lose the weight, the decision to just 'get going' and do it was the hardest part, I didn't even follow any particular diet, just went with instinct. It sounds too simple, but we have to take care of our human bodies, as they are our vehicles, and directly related to our quality of life.
