So on Jan 27th General Minihan tells the troops war with China is coming in 2 years and coincidentally there is a Chinese Spy balloon discovered over US territory on Jan 28th. Does anyone remember the movie "Wag the Dog". I always thought it was a documentary not satire. But then what do I know? I also believe the movie Idiocracy was prophesy not comedy.

Quite disappointed in the military. Seems like a grandstanding action to use a half million dollar missile to destroy everything when a small projectile could have just put a hole in the balloon. Nothing about this balloon story makes any sense. I suspect it is a distraction from what's in the other hand.

I was thinking the same thing and then I remembered it was at something like 50,000 feet and I don't know if we have anything simple to pop a hole in something that high other than some kind of rocket or missile. The U2 used to fly that high but it did not have any armaments because the theory was nothing could reach it. That is until the Russians finally did have some kind of rocket that could go that high.

This is what supposedly shot it down over the Atlantic. Service ceiling of 50k and armed with 20mm Gatling gun. Supposedly, the balloon entered US airspace in the Aleutians (one of the most monitored areas in the US). Why did it get across AK and Canada before a civilian finally noticed it in Montana? Fishy shit going on.

I read somewhere else that during the past five years there have been several of these balloons and this is the first time we have heard about it. As I mentioned earlier, I am more concerned about TikTok and our own government listening in on my household conversations with Google and Alexa. I have no expectation of privacy and a firm belief that all the major powers are spying on us. I am sure we are spying on them as well.

Exactly! Perhaps no one leading our military has any brains. We had days to figure a way to safely capture a balloon and bring it down. Perhaps we should have asked Elon to capture it. Or perhaps our military has the ability to bring it down in one piece but there is some reason that we destroyed it - what are we hiding?

In any case, our leaders seem like a bunch of morons!

Probably would take thousands of small holes to get it to come down intact
Most likely it has some sophisticated buoyancy controls in order for a balloon to do the kinds of things it does
And then if you managed to turn it to Swiss cheese and it was going to land on the ground intact it was probably loaded with explosives that could be triggered from china and blow it to enough tiny pieces you could never find

Leave you two choices
Blow it out of the sky over the arctic so you can find it on the ice
Better over the sea incase it’s carrying a self destruct charge

What ever you do or has to be sudden so ground controllers can’t react and destroy evidence

Yes, I remember Eisenhower having to admit that it was a reconnaissance flight. A documentary I recently saw said that was the end of the CIA use of plausible deniability. I did not know Powers was supposed to take a suicide pill.
