I have an existing Sunpower 4300 watt ground array from two strings grid tied through a 5000 watt inverter. The system does not meet my usage. I was given 22 panels that I want to combine with existing system in two series strings. Is there a problem with strings of different voltage or different amperage being joined in combiner box. Does it act like amperage and voltage “within” a string defaulting to the lowest of either volts or amps?

It depends on how the strings are connected in series and parallel. If you reveal your SCC input limits and your panel specs, someone here can help you configure your array.
