I recently installed a GridBoss, Flexboss21 and EG4-WallMount Indoor Battery to my home. I've been having issues with getting the system to run off of battery during the evenings to reduce the higher electricity costs. Here is my setup:
  • Gridboss is connected between my grid breaker panel and main home breaker panel (connected to the Backup Loads 200A)
  • Flexboss21 is connected from the Hybrid Port 1 on the Gridboss, to the GRID "L1 & L2" Connectors.
  • A single EG4-WallMount Indoor Battery connected to the Flexboss21
Right now, the system works for backup power. However, I am having issues to configure the system to do the following:
  1. Primarily charge the battery at night from 1 - 4 am.
    1. This is the cheapest time for TOU.
  2. Switch to using the battery as the primary during the evenings from 5 - 8 pm
    1. This is to reduce the cost for TOU.
I've tried several different configurations, but I've not been successful in getting this setup working. Does anyone have knowledge on what the settings need to be in setting this up?

You need to document/disclose all of your current settings and exactly what it is currently doing.

I have my 18kpv setup such that it will run the load off of the batteries until the batteries hit the on-grid cut-off. For me (with solar) that means that it will run my loads (with sun) forever. Without sun I would need to setup charging to cover the loads.

Thanks skimandan! Just what I was looking for. It seems that Signature Solar says that when you configure the Gridboss and Flexboss in parallel, the settings in the Flexboss essentially are forced onto the Gridboss. I now have similar settings as what is in the other thread. It will be interesting to see if this works. This should be a very easy and common setup.

Thanks Roger, I have made some adjustments to my settings based on information from both Signature Solar and @skimandan suggestion in his thread. If this works, then I will provide the documentation and settings to pass it forward.
