Hi,
We live in a cabin in upstate NY in a forested hilly region where it rains a little bit most days. Most often it is overcast. Our roof is not positioned optimally for solar panels to be mounted on it. What I would like to do is get a Jackery 500 or so that we can use to power our phones, router and LED flashlights if we are in an extended power outage.
My thinking is that a portable setup would allow us to move the panels/Jackery to the sunniest spot on our property, which is far from the cabin, in the event an outage lasts long enough we'd need to recharge. We could also recharge close to the cabin, but for a portion of the day that area is shaded by trees.
I am having difficulty identifying what panels will stand up to possible rain/snow and also how many of them I should get to still be of use in an overcast situation without overloading the Jackery. Reading about this is turning my brain to mush, I would be grateful for any suggestions. Reliability is more important to me than cost.
Thank you!
