Different power tool batteries have different BMSs, as well as connector to connect to their brand of power tools. So the only thing that can be modular between one brand and the other is the actual cells. I know that there are converters to change for exmaple the Makita connector to a Milwaukee connector to use Maktia batteries with Milwaukee tools. But I have also seen cases of the adapters not working well and resulting in a fire. So I think simply pulling out the cells from the Makita battery and putting them in a Milwaukee battery case, with a Milwaukee BMS would probably be the best option. The only way that I can see that this would be done is if the Nickel strips can be connectorized to allow for the connection to be disconnected and connected again easily. Do such connectors exist for nickel strips? This would allow the cells to be removed from one battery case and BMS, and connected to another brand's BMS and battery case. Lots of brands have 18 V or 5 Lithium Ion cells in series.
