I have two cloud energy 150AH 24v batteries and I'm thinking of dissecting them and using the cells to make a 48v battery.

My current system is growatt SPF 24v 3000w system, and I'm moving to the EG4 6000xp inverter. I do have one LL 100AH 48v EG4 battery already, and if I can use the 24v batteries, then I will have 250AH @ 48v.

I know I can put the 24v batteries in series to make a 48v battery, but there are not comms with the cloud energy bms. There are 12v battery balencers that let you use 4 12v batteries to make a 48v battery, but I cannot find a equalizer that will work with two 24v batteries.

Has anybody disected the 24v batteries, take the cells out and make a 48v battery?

Do you have BMS recommendations that let comms work with the EG4 LL-S lithium battery?

will the coms hub be needed?

Here is a pic I found online. It looks like I might be able to use the same case but use a custom cable for the BMS.

The communication hub is specifically designed for Lifepower4 V1 batteries to communicate with non-EG4 inverters listed in the communication hub manual. I do not recommend connecting two 24V batteries in series and combining them with an EG4 48V battery in the same battery bank.

I Have the same Issue, had a 24 volt system with 8 / 24 volt batteries. Went to 48 volt with reliance Inverter, been running that for 6 months now but struggles to start my 8000BTU AC.... so took the plunge and bought an EG4 6000XP from the great reviews and I wanted split ph. for some tools and a compressor.... just hate to just loose all those batteries, they are less than 2 years old. They are preassembled 100 AH 24 volt from Litime and Power Queen and one other brand and 1 / 48 volt server rack battery with no comms. from Vatrer .... I was thinking of breaking the 24 volt batteries up and buying 4 X 16S BMS with Bluetooth and making 4X 100 AH 48V packs without the comms. to the Inverter and paralleling all together.

I will run the EG4 at the Lead acid setting as suggested by Signature Solar when I bought it if you do not have Comms. , I know that the 2X24 volts in series the voltage will just star drifting apart .. they are already doing so in just a few months in this setup and nobody makes a 24 volt to 48 volt balancer from what I see,

Might be a bit of work but hate to not be able to use them in this new 48 volt format..... Impute or recommendations from anybody that has done something similar would be appreciated.? I know it's not the best way to do it but right now I can't swing 6k $$ in new batteries.

New guy to forum but being doing solar for 2 years now powering my off grid workshop.

BTW I have 16 / 200 watt panels set up for this system...
