Crimping larger ferrules

I use a Krimpex ferrule crimper for ferrules up to 6 ga. I was trying to use my Temco hydraulic lug crimper to crimp some 2ga and 4ga ferrules for input into my Orion XS 12/12 50A DC to DC charger and all I managed to do was destroy the ferrules. Tried different size dies and all resulted in destroyed ferrules. Do I need to buy yet another crimper to handle ferrules over 6 ga?

Yes, you need a different crimping die.

I have some 1 gauge ferrules. I'm scratching my head on those because I'm pretty sure I don't have a die that fits them.

I don't see why TEMCo couldn't create a ferrule die set for their hydraulic crimper.

I bought 2 simple crimpers. one from very small to 10mm2 and another from 10-16mm2.
Bigger than that i would use my hydraulic crimper from Amazon, 75 euro.

I have a Temco hydraulic crimper. It detroys the ferrules no matter what size die I use. Maybe I am doing it wrong.

Coincidence that you made this thread a couple days after I started thinking about using my TEMCo for ferrules? I think not. Guess I won't be doing that. Got pictures of the carnage?

FWIW, I shot off a request to TEMCo that they create square crimp ferrule dies for their hydraulic crimpers.
