I didn't solder any of my lugs. Most of us don't. A good crimp is a solid cold weld.
My Dewalt 20v heat gun isn't the most powerful tool, but it can stand on its own while I hold the cable with both hands. I reviewed it here.
My TEMCo Industrial hydraulic crimper did a fine job crimping my 2/0 through 6 gauge lugs.
I have minor arthritis. What really pushed my hands the most was stripping the insulation from the cable. I seriously considered a rather expensive solution, but in the end just stuck with a utility knife.
