Hi All,

I'm implementing a new system with a 400amp service and two 200amp service panels (one critical and one main). My diagram is very similar to the one EG4 has (https://diysolarforum.com/attachments/img_2219-jpeg.199286/), but I'm using NHX-12k and have the second panel connected to the meter (with its own disconnect). I'm a bit confused about the location of CTs, even though I went through several threads that cover this topic (most relevant: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/s...r-outage-concerns-solark-15k-eg4-18kpv.74519/ and https://diysolarforum.com/threads/18kpv-setup-right-can-you-feeder-tap-meter-main-panel.95284/). On the EG4 diagram, they recommend to connect them before the feeder tap. Is there any specific reason for that? Why can't I connect them between the tap and the disconnect (or between the disconnect and the inverter), which would make the wiring a bit easier for me?

Also, how exactly is this going to work in case of feeding back to the grid (from the inverter perspective) and being used by the main panel? I don't mind that (in fact, would prefer that), but the stats of the inverter won't match what the utility is seeing. Setting CTs at the meter (so it sees everything coming from the grid) is not likely to be correct either, as the inverter is not handling all the loads in this case (and will further complicate the wiring). I plan to use IotaWatt to monitor both panels, but am curious if I understand the situation correctly and what others do/recommend in this situation. Thank you.

CT's need to be located between the meter and where it splits out to the two 200a panels.
in some cases they can be located before the meter. It just depends on what your utility company is OK with.
