This seems to be an infrequently discussed topic. Everyone want to charge as fast as the mfg allows - maybe 12-20% Ah. But is there any benefit or any difference whatsoever is charging at a very low current level if time is not an issue? Even just eliminating the need for an absorb cycle?

Basically, fast charge vs slow charge - does it matter?

Lead Acid.
Lead acid needs to be charged at a higher voltage (14.3ish+) and good amount of amps basically daily and every three weeks or so 15.xV+ if flooded to equalize. AGMs are harmed by equalize volts.

So basically a trickle (like several cloudy days in a row) is better than nothing but it is not good to charge at near static battery volts- in fact if battery is 12.4 volts and you can’t hit 13+ you might not even be ‘actually’ charging the battery bank.
