CurrentConnected: Extended Business Hours & Updates

So basically the optional route protection fee covers a rapid replacement in case of carrier incompetence, an optional insurance, otherwise the regular carrier damage process that may take longer for replacement would be followed.

Basically, if you aren't in a super rush for it, I'd take my chances. If you are time critical, might be worth it.
This is the way I understood it, though was also just guessing. I used it on the big, expensive purchase but skipped it on the smaller purchases.

Think of it this from a business perspective -

Why would the freight company want to rush to pay out your insurance claim, or make paying out easy? Why would they want to pay out a penny more than they need to? It's in their best interest to do as little for the customer as possible, and the longer it takes, the longer they can keep the profits in the bank. The freight claims do not reimburse the cost of shipping the replacement items either so someone will have to come out of pocket for that.

Route does a FULL replacement, including what it costs to ship the replacement. They literally go on our website and place an order in your name and checkout. As a customer, you aren't settling for anything less than everything, nor are you waiting up to 90 days to figure out if your claim is going to get denied. This is why we highly recommend Route, because settling for a damaged pallet of solar panels or a dented up inverter is not what most customers have in mind when they are shopping with us.

I guess the difference in opinion here is that when doing online shopping, I’ve always thought it was the seller’s responsibility to ensure the merchandise arrives in good condition. I guess that’s not the case, and the responsibility for that is now on the consumer. Noted. Surprising, but noted.

BTW, I do apologize for hijacking the thread. I mistakenly thought it was part of the CC feedback discussions you have encouraged in the past, rather than an announcement. I should have looked more closely. My sentiments about shipping are what they are, but I am glad CC is expanding their hours and believe that will benefit east coast customers. My multiple purchases from CC have resulted in quality systems at a competitive price, which is why I have often recommended the company and still do. We’ll just agree to disagree on some of these other points. I continue to wish you and the company well.

With traditional UPS it is always on the shipper file a claim and provide evidence for a claim. The claim includes the insured amount and the original cost of shipping --- I just went through this for some damaged stuff that looked like it was run over by a forklift in transit.

Dexter, with freight - who files the claim and does that include the cost of shipping if things are damaged?
