Hello :)

I received a RS485 to USB cable for my Daly BMS 12v 4S and was happy to connect my computer to the BMS, but it fail !

I checked many time the connection of my USB cable. It's a 5 pins, but only 3 wires (White / Green Black), connected next to the UART port used for the Bluetooth module. This port is without any label or indication.

After that I connected the USB part to my computer (tested on two differents computers), and installed the CH34Driver.
The com port was ok and I tried both softwares, Sinowealth and BMSMonitor, but after connected well, no data was able to be read ...

Here are some screenshots to show my problem.
I guess some of you have solutions, since I'm not sure Daly Support will give me the solution.

Thanks

To my knowledge, the DALY BMS 4S version does not support RS485.

I'm running a Smart Daly BMS 12v 4S.

I emailed Daly asking for RS485 pin-out details and they emailed me back this and I have the "Px" 5 pin port on my Daly BMS.

They may have sent you the generic pinout. Are you sure, you bought a 4S with RS485 functionality? Because all 4S DALY Smart BMS I have seen so far come only with Bluetooth/UART. The RS485 as well as the CAN versions start with 8S at least for the LiFePo4-BMS types. But maybe I am not up to date ...
Can you post a picture of your BMS label?

Here's one of mine and you can see it has all three communication interfaces CAN/RS485/UART (Bluetooth connects also to UART as does the screen one can buy as accessory)

Or maybe they sent you just the wrong USB adapter? In your picture, you show a RS485-to-USB-adapter when actually you need an UART-to-USB-adapter instead ...
To my knowledge, the 4S works only with Sinowealth and only via UART.

This guy would appear to be able to communicate via RS485 to his Daly 100a 12v 4s

OK, well, I don't know this DALY BMS as this seems to have an open PCB (as he points out when the red LED is on). Also, the RS485 connector goes in sideways.
So sorry, I can't help any further ... and you haven't revealed the type of your BMS either.

WolwX who started this thread is the one having problems getting data via RS485, I did not say I was having problems and needed help.

OK, so just out of curiousity - you managed to get yours working with RS485?

So I'll keep my fingers crossed that it works for you. Please report ?

Hello guys
So ... I'm back with more informations.

Daly respond me on Aliexpress : My Daly BMS version doesn't support CAN or RS485 (this one https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005002205134036.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.12116ac0PGC7MJ) ...

I have a 5 pins socket next the UART one, but no sticker or mention on it, because my BMS is not compatible ...
They redirect me to another Daly 4S BMS compatible :

So, I miss choosed the good product, that's a classic error when buying on this chinese jungle ^^'

Sorry to hear that!
Speaking of Chinese jungle - the page you linked to shows no RS485 either, just UART and CAN. So be aware that it also might not work with RS485.
On the other hand, do you really need RS485 or do you just want to talk to the BMS? Because if your BMS supports Bluetooth it also supports UART AFAIK. In that case you can use an UART-to-USB adaptor and it should work.

The page I Linked was the one provided by Daly's official support ?
Yep, I already use a Bluetooth dongle connected to UART port, and I'm waiting a USB UART adaptator to be able to connect from my computer to this BMS.
Since Bluetooth app don't permit to access all data and change all, I will check with this usb cable.
I just can't use both Bluetooth app and usb cable because the two use UART pins connector / protocol.

You're right: It's either BT or UART.

There is another advantage of using RS485: While the UART as well as the BT only "jumps on", when the battery is charged or "activated" by additional accessory, by using RS485 the battery can be woken up simply by querying it. In other words, just sending a bunch of RS485 requests wakes a dormant BMS. It might not react on the first but out of my experience, it reacts after a second or so (missing the first few commands).

OK interesting information ?
Anyway I use it in a RV véhicule, living in full year, so there is always activity so my BMS never sleep, but good to know :)

Use 4s LIFEPO4 and the official uart 3pin connection and it don’'t work neather with sinowealth , it works fine with pc master, but pc master has not the options sinowealth has.
