Just built a 48vDC LiFePO4 16S battery using a Daly 100A smart BMS. looking through the bluetooth app that comes with it there is a variety of settings that can be made. All my previous batteries have dumb BMS's so making settings is new to me. I am posting screenshots of the 2 settings page below. Anyone have recommendations concerning these settings? I changed a few from factory but I am not really sure if there is better choices.

Thanks for any replies!

Thanks. I do not see a "balance only when charging" setting but I might be missing it as I try to figure the app interface out. Bit long in the tooth to keep up with all this stuff. I made the setting changes you suggested.

hi, suggest sleep timer to be 65535 - it never powers off.
Daly BMS capability to balance cells is at least disappointing. Never bothered to expect them to work and it never did anything to my 280ah cells. Suggest you to think about adding some active balancers in parallel with the BMS. I installed one from daly and it works fine.

Thanks for the suggestions. If I start to notice a balance problem I will think about adding an active balancer.

yep i purchased the 5A "dumb" version from aliexpress. have two of them, one it each battery. For them to work i set an automation in homeassistant that put the charger (growatt spf5000es) to push 58.4v thought an entire day (top-charge balance), then the cells starts to slowly balance

sometimes it takes more than three days anyway. I do it only in summer as i cannot afford it in winter. Here's the common output of the program running

you notice they're pretty bad balanced after almost two months of use running them in daily cycles for around 80% to 20% SoC. Balancer does nothing at this range as the voltages are pretty much the same for mid-range soc. After about 20-30 hours in my "balance program" they get pretty decent.
