Hello,

My BMS: Daly Smart BMS 4S 250A UART Version:

Hello, who can help me?
I bought a Daly Smart BMS 4S 250A UART version.
Unfortunately, the parameters for my battery 280Ah 12V (4S 3.2 V 280Ah lifepo4 battery) cannot be set by the BMS via the Daly Android app. It should only be possible to set the parameters via UART cable. I have a USB-UART converter and need the pinouts of the BMS for RX, TX, GND and VCC. Who knows what these are at the BMS and in what order they are.

Greetings from Tom from Germany

I don't know if there are official colour coding for usb.

I do have the UART to USB cable from Daly.

Black goes to black.
White to the "center"
And green to the other sideIMG_20201212_150138_copy_750x1000.jpg
This is the "Daly" side of the USB.
What goes where on the USB:

This should provide with all information you might need

thank you very much. Which sequence is Pin1-4, look at the plug or look to the rifle on bms?
I have 2 sockets with 4 Pins. one with description UART, one no description and one 3-Pin with chinese description. The BT Modul works on the socket with no description.

This is the Daly 250A 16S
(For sale if anyone interested, with display, BT, UART, Led charge indication and temperature sensor)

Would it not be easy to just order the cable??
Envelope post from China is cheap.

Looking at the time already passed...
It would have been there already.
Quick search gives about $5 for the cable and $10 for transport.
I'm sure that if you contact Daly directly, they can send cheaper.

Most likely the USB UART cable is based on Silicon Labs CP2102 chipset.
Those are usually about $0.75
(Bare usb to UART, no cable or casing)

I can try to look tomorrow.
No promises.

Yes.
Original Daly.

Daly did change their hardware platform 3 times since their launch of "smart" BMS.

Having mayor changes like is or is not possible to program via BT..

And for sure stability issues as you don't change for fun....

I can't advise them at all, using the field as QA and R&D playground when selling protection....
And taking no responsibility if their products fail.
Yes...
You can return and lose $75 on return costs....
When they already know it's their crappy hardware choice......

Anyway..
I have one, you apparently also.
And are stuck with it :)

Just don't use it on mission critical components

Hey

juanmijm, That's the same USB wire I just got for my DALY BMS 100A 4S 12V. Is that what I use to hook up BMS to PC.

It says Monitor on the shrink tube, and does it plug into my BMS port here, where the Chinese Characters are?

Indeed, that's what you use the USB to UART use for :)
Make contact with the computer.

@juanmijm , did you already contacted Daly support for new cable?

my 4s 200a bms does not have the same connector arrangement. nor does it have any character in Chinese. maybe you can use an ocr translator to know what it says there.
What I would do is ask daly about this though.

Yes, it is already solved and I can communicate with the pc, it was a configuration problem.

Now I have another problem, they have provided me with a new firmware to operate the LCD and the monitor port at the same time, and I can see and configure all the parameters from the pc perfectly.
The only problem is that the BT has stopped working for me, the salesperson told me that they could not be used at the same time, that in bms 4s you can only use one thing or the other, I understood that I could remove the lcd and put the BT when I wanted, but it is not like that, they have different configuration parameters in the firmware, if the firmware is configured for the LCD, then the BT will not work anymore.

555
(That's Thai, as they pronounce the number 5 as "Ha", people here often write 555 instead of ROFL)

Those funny Chinese...

My "pre production model" can officially do also one, display, computer or BT.

UART is so basic..
How on earth can they mess this up??

More and more I'm getting the feeling that is a bunch of separate products that they force to work together..

Besides..
There is "black" / dark colour "Daly" now widely available for lower price...

I guess Daly doesn't even make this crap...

I think I have the same BMS board as you. I can connect to the UART port the BT module and the 3PIN USB Monitor cable into the Monitor port.
It works for me very well with the Sionwealth BMS Tool on the PC and also with the Smart BMS app on iPhone.
Also I can disconnect the Bluetooth cable from the port and plug in the LCD cable.

But now I have the issue that the LCD switch on but never shows any data. All values show 0 or are empty.
Iwas in contact with the Daly support. we checked the connection, the voltage and so on. All is ok.

As you wrote you got an other firmware, means that firmware has activated the LCD support and you are now not able to use Bluetooth instead the LCD anymore? Can you switch back to the old firmware? I would like to set all necessary settings with Bluetooth or with PC and afterwards use the BMS with the LCD in my Camper (RV).

Would it be possible to provide me that firmware?

Btw. If your BMS has the two PIN Port directly to the Monitor port, you can use a switch or something to bridge the two PINs to wake up the BMS and enable Bluetooth or LCD screen.

Thank you!

Otte

I have two firmware, one for bt work and one for lcd work, I have tried both and they both work, I can put one or the other without a problem, if you want I can give them to you, but I am not responsible for what may happen. ;)
