Daly Smart BMS - odd behavior

Similar story here timmeh. I left the unit disconnected over night hoping that caps would discharge, any memory would disipate but it still would not fire up. The Instructions are dismal and simple. No problem solving on the simplest level either.
Then the software is showing (at least on mine) 60% plus chinese!!
Waiting for my 3rd replacement unit to arrive.

Have checked every wire 7 or 8 times now!! i must be getting bored - but no faults of any kind.
Good luck m8
Don't forget to quick short the P- & B-. If that doesn't work then kickstart the bms with a powersupply with somewhere between 14.6-14.8v. They're all different at which voltage the kickstart kicks in ;) (mine was 14.8v)

I have a Daly/Mgod BMS 10S for LTO and used for like a week, and then I encountered the same problem. My SOC stuck at a bit more than 30% and when charging with quite good power and current the SOC just won't move. While the cell voltage and pack voltage contine to go up.

Anyone has figured out how to solve it?

(Just so you know, I have top charged it days ago and set the SOC to 100% by then and also set the capacity correctly (90Ah))

You can see my system staus live here:

Well that is unfortunately not what you suggsted here and perhaps you didn't check my graph carefully. I uploaded 2 more pics. The left graph shows the SOC and the right graph shows min/max cell voltage. If you know LTO well then you know it has been changing something like from 50%to60% up to 80%. It was charging with 200W in the middle of the day, and my battery pack is only 2KWh capacity. So it actually charged around 10% per hour during the mid day. Or you can view it directly on my shared dashboard above and click onto the advanced tab. It has been charged with more than 8A from 12:33 until later after 5PM the sun goes down, the SOC is capped and not moving at all. This is a firmware bug, I suppose. And I could not get any help from the seller than telling me "top charge it and then set SOC to 100% again". But I already did exactly this 2 or 3 days ago as it was way off and capped at 49% for some reason by then.

I feel Daly's BMS's software side (also they cannot read current blow 2A) is not polished and just a "fancy look" product. I then ordered some QUCC BMS and they arrived today and I set it up earlier on my other battery pack and they work nicely (amps reading can be as low as 0.5A). I haven't figured out is how to set the SOC on QUCC BMS yet, as it is late in China now, I will ask the QUCC seller tomorrow. (Their tech support, or the seller, is also much better)

From the software config page it feels the Daly system is doing very stupid amps monitoring and calculate the SOC solely based on that. It considers nothing with your voltage change. The QUCC BMS seems doing it more "smartly" or what I feel is the standard way of estimating SOC - you combile amps reading and battery voltage reading.

There are also large current fluctuations shown in the app, which are not present. My Victron system and separate Victron BMS both show pretty stable levels while the Daly will be showing +-30A fluctuations.

Anyone have any experience like this? Or able to suggest a remedy:)
Cheers
Ian,
South Africa
Have you been able to fix these current-reading fluctuations? When I have a 60A load via the Victron inverter, the Daly Bluetooth app shows anything from 1 to 150A.

I have a Votronic shunt. The reading on the shunt correspond to the readings on the app.

WOW!! 0.05v
Reference voltage is 3.20 Volt (LiFepo4). SOC You can set to 100% if the Cell are about 3.45 Volt. All Cell must be first in balance. Attached You find my Screenshoots. I have 180Ah Battery 16S at the Moment. The language is german, but i hope it helps anyway..

Damn!! you have a differential volt of 0.005v. how did you achieve that?

@fopoku2k2

1. Good Calb cells 180Ah
2. Perfect TOP Balanced cells
3. Perfect contact on the busbars with the M8 screws...

Even at 76A charge current, I have less than 10mV difference as long as all cell voltages are below 3.40 volts. After that, the deviation is up to 25mVolt. I stop charging at 3.426 Volt at the lowest cell. The highest has then max. 3.450 volt.

Hello everyone, I'm new to that forum and need help please :)

Got 8 x CATL 280AH (actually 272AH) 3.2v cells and a 150AH Daly BMS with Bluetooth and all are set up but need help with correct settings as default come with default setting so can you help me... run 24v system so can you help me correct parameter setting for eg i saw on first page on this thread...

1. Cell volt high protect : 3.65 Volt
2. Cell volt low protect: 2.80 Volt
3. Sum volt high protect: 14.60 Volt
4. Sum volt low protect: 11.20 Volt
5. Cell reference volt: 3.20 Volt (this is for LiFepo4 Cells !)
6. Sleep waiting: 65535 (This disable the Sleep Modus forever)
7. SOC: Set this to 100% if all Cells reached 3.45 Volt. At the end of charging, the voltage ries is very fast....
8. Balanced open Starts: 3.400 volt (Means only Top balancing)
9. Balanced open diff voltage 0.020 Volt

So can you help me for 24v setting, thanks!

Thanks MisterSandals!

Also check my mobile app screenshots to see if need any changes?

Just basic set up and 8 cells in series

chg low temp protect should be above freezing. 2-4 deg C is safe. -40C way too low.
I would look at low temp discharge too, its not the best to discharge below freezing, especially at higher discharge rates (low discharge not as bad).
Enter your battery makers charge and discharge current protect amperages. 225A / 272Ah is .83C which seems high to me but maybe a good protect value. See mfgers suggestion, adjust to your comfort level (or expected normal function values...want disconnect if short or over current failure).
Not my battery or BMS so mostly what i think are consensus for basic settings.

@CETBOR

I would change the following:

Reduce the charging and discharging current to a reasonable value. The Daly 150A BMS can handle a maximum of 75A when charging and 150A when discharging.

If you have not measured the nominal capacity yourself, reduce it to 250Ah so that the SOC display shows a more accurate value.

Sleep waiting Time: 65535

SOC setting: If the battery is not 100% full, you can enter 25% when charging the battery. The BMS will adjust this when the battery reaches the full state of 100%.

Balanced Starts: 3.400 volt

Balanced diff voltage 0.020 Volt

chg high Temp protect: 45

chg low Temp protect: 5

dis high Temp protect: 45

dis low Temp protect: -5

MOS temp protect: 120

And always remember: The BMS is only for protection, not regulation.

Thanks guys,

MOS Temp protect cannot change to 120 so other solution?

Forgot to add and that is my first LFP so it need to charge up before start use it

O.K. I checked my setting with the MOS temperature protection It says also 47 ...

The problem with the message you are getting is a warning message. You can only set the level for the warning message with the PC app, not with the mobile app. First read out all the parameters in the PC app and set the parameters as required.

With the PC App you can set all Warinig Levels-1 and all Cut OFF Levels-2. I have set mine (16S) to these values and everything works fine.

Thanks and can you help point me right site to download PC app software (Windows and MacOS) so i can get it fixed, thanks

It only exist for Windows. Version is 1.2.8 Look at here:

Perfect thanks!!

I cannot find to disable the warning, see screenshots and also let me know if all my settings look good? also what about firmware because there is no Daly website for official firmware so should we download latest firmware if my firmware is outdated?

Lev-1 must always be a less aggressive value than Lev-2

Look at my setting above.

You also need to set the SOC level here to 25 and click Set

Thanks, look like my Daly BMS is dead! bluetooth or USB won't work and have tried to get it to work... is there hard reset... i cannot find a little hole, did take it off and leave for an hour... and try again... still not working, any other solution?
