Does a Daly Smart BMS and SBMS0 servce the same purpose and offer similar features such as managing cell charging, cell balancing, and safety monitoring?

My SBMS0 had some odd issues so I sent the SBMS0 and DSSR20 to Dacian to check out but the holiday package slowdown means it will not be back when I need it. Now scrambling around for other options that can fit between the PV solar array and the house battery (li-ion) bank.

All BMS have the same basic functions. How they do it and their features vary. At a minimum, a BMS will cut off at high and low voltage disconnects and most will engage in some sort of passive balancing to varying degrees.

The Daly is regarded as an acceptable BMS in most cases, but it may not perform all the same functions or in the way the Electrodacus does.

In the SBMS0 There are no mosfets where the current is passing through with the SBMS0. The SBMS0 controls your inverters and chargers directly rather than turning on/off mosfets inside the BMS like the Daly units. In my opinion Daly units are suitable for low current DC loads and not for inverters of a large system. Of course they will work, but I'd rather have the BMS control the loads with on/off commands at minimum rather than rely on cheap mosfets inside the BMS.

Agree the SBMS0 design is better than those that send all the current through the BMS. One reason I went with SBMS0. :)

Are there any preferred USA based vendors selling authentic DALY BMS? I'm going to get one that handles 3500w continuous to the inverter and 1800w (37Vx20Ax3) PV, 50A continuous) on the charge side.
