Dan-O's DIY 105ah LiFePO4 cell holder springy contraption things!

3 months later and this is still amazing work.

I would say I am going to duplicate this....but I'm not sure I have the required skills to pull it off.

I wonder what kind of wood working equipment he has?
Well, thank you. No crazy tools needed. Just basic stuff and some time. You can absolutely do it and probably improve on it!??
 
Wow that looks great. We LOVE manufacturing things around here. Where can you buy the lithium cells in that format (or another like it)
 
All good stuff in this thread. I still need to refine a few things but here’s the box so far. I had to reinforce the “cutting boards” as they were flexing a little. I also need different springs. The ones I used are supposedly rated to 190lbs or so but collapsed with 70lbs. I think I should also re-route the wires to avoid having them cross one another, seems unsafe.

But the box works nicely, the side plates move independently from the bottom as intended.

The box is made from Costco cutting boards, 1/8” aluminum, 5/16 rod, steel shelf mounts (those black bars, the 5/16 locknuts fit perfectly in the groove), 5/16 serrated nuts (the serration grabs the spring edge preventing the nut from backing off) and I used rubber appliance pads in between the cells and felt on the edges.

The last photo of this series shows the box before the 1/8" reinforcement, the added edges on the bottom plate and the positive 2AWG cable.

Hey, I have a quick question. What was the 4 cells parallel arrangement in the early pictures? Were you planning something bigger in Amp needs?

I bought these from forum member, Michael B Caro. Super good service, price and these were already in the USA! He's a good guy to buy from if possible. ??

Where is the BMS?

Never mind...I see it.
 
Would this build design work for a 16 cell 105ah golf cart battery or should I try to build it in a plastic box of some sort? The golf cart will never be hosed down and I keep it out of the rain.
