Just to mention: I have ordered two PZEM-04 power metering modules.

Both came today with a "Q.C. Passed" green sticker.
In **both** I found a solder drop in the safety gap intended to avoid burning arcs in case of a surge:

Be aware and do the Q.C. yourself !

Mine's a PZEM-016 and looks OK. I cleaned the flux just because I had it open, but other than the transformer being mounted on an angle, it's not awful.

have not went to sleep yet, its still only 2300 here. Don't worry we are still on guard and the big bad CCP will not get past us as long as the LGBTQ xyz crowd can remember to set their alarm clocks when they put their KY cowboy suits away.

Oh behave, get a bolster

FWIW guys, when I was still practicing, QA - Quality Assurance ISO 9000 was all the rage in EU and Cheap Charlie jumped on the bandwagon and every other factory was sporting a fake ISO 9000 logo. I had to manage design work thru the system for an Oil Major and it was a lot of extra time and BS - not sure how much value for money it was? Much better to use designers with built in schooled integrity (do they still train guys anymore?).

THEN I jumped across the pond to play with the Cousins - and took to it like a duck to water. They didnt do QA, they called it QI Quality Inspection - the line manager just signed off on work and got fired if his designers screwed up - reminds you of ..........

Typically detail designing a petrochem plant, might need a hundreds of people, should take 6 months, but start date slips 3 months to sign the order but the end date stays the same. Big ticket stuff has same lead time as does big civil works, so Front end design gets squeezed to 3 months. Designers need a lot of info from Vendors (but they hold a lot of essential stuff back (needed for construction) so they get paid on time. So it all gets to site for commissioning and thats where the s88t hits the fan. Client wouldnt accept drawings for payment if they contained "clouds" showing data waiting for Vendor info. So a lot of stuff on site didnt have enough detail to be built. So guys thats how I made big $$$$ designing on the spot in a portacabin, made more bucks in 6 months than I did in 2 years YeeeHaaa

There's the trick about ISO 9000, you must have a documented process and you must follow the process. It doesn't have to be a _good_ process, or produce a quality product, but it must be documented and followed.

Some years back a place I worked at instated ISO 9000. The extra documentation increased workload and distraction. This resulted decreased quality and decreased productivity. So we had well documented crap. That system was scrapped and returned to the previous quality control. The customers that had the ISO ultimatum, still purchased product in the end.

When the primary criteria for a product is "cheapest possible" it rules out quality, reliability, support, or being designed and manufactured in a Country that cares about ethics and reputation. A QC sticker sticker from the same culture building the product is as valueless as their other promises. However, cost is proven to be the primary metric in most purchase choice, and China provides what the majority people want, which is to pay as little as possible.

I bought Reliable Electric 2.5kW inverter 8 years ago. Before install shook device and heard loose stuff inside (I always check for loose fasteners etc.). Removed cover and boards, found loose cutoff leads and partially trimmed leads bent over almost shorting to adjacent pin. Soldering was B grade. Corrected defects and its been reliable for the last 8 years. Sloppy build regarding secondary operations, but solid performance when cleaned up. I now disassemble Chinese devices to check for problems before use. PowMr mppt had same issues, I stopped using them because of charge voltage drift from set point.
