Saw a video today on this product. Interesting gas DC generator with 2-wire start working with EG4 Inverter.

Quite neat,

Seems like it will only max 54v.... 16 cells that's 3.375v per cell.

I would like to see, some adjustable ness for the voltage...

60a isn't bad. And DC direct charging is going to be more efficient. My only concern is the DC cables. They might need to be pretty long to get the exhaust out to a safe distance, depending on where your system is located.
My garage system inverter is outside, so it would be easy. But it would take 50' cables for the house system.

I know someone will not like it.
But it could stay in the garage and extend the exhaust out the building on an outside wall. At least you can save some heat in the garage for the winter.

Kohler makes a full size off grid specific DC generator, not cheap though. $5500

The KS one on the video is priced right,i see $1500 on Amazon. Good bargain considering you can omit the new $700+ chargeverter 😅

Amazon

ive noticed alot of cheap DC generators lately, marketed as parking generators or range extending generators.

Theres some military versions out there too if you are looking. I have a 24V one that can do 100A. I paid $200 and it only had 11 hours on it.

I had asked about this a month or so ago on the backup generator forum here but didn't get much response and decided to just go for it. Managed to get it for $1200 total direct from the manufacturer. Couldn't find much else with an autostart that wouldn't also drain the starting battery if it was on standby for long periods. I received it but haven't wired it in yet, will report back soon!

Video: I do not understand the purpose of the warmup time on this generator.
With normal AC generators, the frequency and voltage have to stabilize.

But this is DC. Presumably they are rectifying and buck converting down to battery voltage.
Should work immediately from startup. Am I missing something?

Got a link to where you purchased it?
It's a good deal, if it's reliable.

It's an engine warm up. So that it doesn't stall when the load is applied.

Does this use the 48v battery for autostart?

Straight from the manufacturer here https://us.konner-sohnen.com/products/generator-ks-48v-dc

At first it looks like the generator is $1500 but if you add it to your cart there's a $300 discount automatically applied, plus no shipping or tax. Seems too good to be true, but here's my receipt and the generator arrived 3 days later. I just checked and I'm seeing the same deal on their website still.

That’s an awesome deal.
But that is about the same price as a 6000 watt 240v inverter gen with the "old" price of the chargeverter.

$989 for 6000 watt gen
449 for chargeverter
--------------
$1438.00

total output 5000 watts max chargeverter and A WHOLE LOT MORE USEFULL with native 240v @6000 watts
outputting 240v so less line loss and easier cable run.
