Deligreen 310Ah cells SCAM

Geez, I just logged into my Alibaba Account to find a PILE of messages from DeliGreen about my comments on here.
So, THEY SAW THIS and they are reacting to it. Not smartly but whatever. Now I feel like I hafta scrub some kinda Muck off my boots... ewwww.
 
Update: I handed the cells to a local firm who specialise in lithium installs. They're getting top balanced as I type this and capacity tested tomorrow, then I'll know more.
Re: the trustworthiness of Deligreen: they expressly advertise the cells as having an intact barcode but send out ones without and say it's fine. Whatever the capacity, that is to me grounds for a return. Anything else would be supporting this practice. I don't want to keep the cells and not pay for them. Just send them back to them and get my money back. They originally charged me around $200 for shipping and are now asking for $500 to send them back.

I'm of two minds here. If the cells test out close enough to the rated capacity, then swallow your pride and use them. On the other hand, the part of me that believes in truth in advertising really wants to stick it to any retailer that doesn't provide what they said they would.

Put on your hip waders and shovel up some dirt Steve! I'm curious to see what DeliGreen is saying privately.

So are you paying for this? It sounds like you are thinking about keeping the cells. Can they test the IR of the cells?
 
I'll reserve my opinion til I see how the capacity test works out.

But, seems like you have Deligreen's full attention ..... So, for them ..... PROVIDE WHAT YOU ADVERTISED AND PROMISED.
 
Once LFP crosses 3.400, the time it takes to reach 3.65 is pretty quick and then it will saturate as the amps fall to below 2.0A taken at which time it's totally full.
 
Update from the lab:

"Report on your 8 cells:
After charging all 8 cells in parallel configuration for about 30 hours with initially a 50 amp then 10 amp charge they reached 3.5 V.
I could not achieve the 3.65v that they should go to.
Last night I made a battery in a 2P4S configuration and charged them to 14.5V, then floated them at 13.8v overnight.
This morning I again gave them a 70amp boost to see if I could achieve the desired 14.6v.
The most I got was 14.58v.
One cell is bulging.

Today they're being capacity tested.

The cells should have been in a compression frame the whole time.
True but the amount of budging that cell is exhibiting is not normal. Something else is going on with that cell and the other ones did not bulge. :)

One cell is bulging.
Did the cell bulge during the parallel top balancing or afterwards?

I'm sorry, but if they say they specialize in lithium installs, they should not have any issues bringing them to 3.65v in parallel with a bench power supply. This is critical in getting the batteries "zeroed out"

And then I looked at the picture and re-read what you said, after looking at the bulged cell and NO BMS OR BALANCE LEADS TO SPEAK OF.

IF THEY CONNECTED THEM IN SERIES AND THEN TRIED PUSHING THE VOLTAGE UP HIGHER AND HIGHER IN SERIES, AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN GET THEM PROPERLY TOP BALANCED, THEN YOU ARE GOING TO OVERCHARGE A CELL!!!!! ESPECIALLY WHEN TRYING TO PUSH 70 AMPS!

BASED ON THE PICTURE, THIS IS SO TOTALLY WRONG. HE SHOULD BE USING A BMS WHEN DOING THIS OTHERWISE IT IS EXTREMELY EASY TO OVERCHARGE AND **DESTROY** A CELL, LIKELY WHAT WE ARE SEEING WITH THE BOULGED CELL IN THE PICTURE. WITHOUT A BMS HE IS LITERALLY DOING MORE DAMAGE TO THESE BATTERIES THAN ANY POSSIBLE DEFECT THEY HAD TO START WITH.

WoW! I didn't notice the lack of a BMS the first time I looked at the photo but it's clear as day no BMS is being used. What kind of a "lab" is this? I would bet the voltage of the bulged cell is much higher than the other cells. TheYen, you should hold them responsible for that.

I was going to say I would not trust my cells with anyone but myself. Now I have said it.

Deligreen does not look so bad now do they....in comparison to this so called lab. I have not seen any cell bulge like that here on this forum unless it was over charged.

What's really sad is there was most likely nothing wrong with the cells to begin with. And now there is no recourse to ask Deligreen for any compensation no matter what the cells capacity is since this lab clearly messed up. Not that I condone false advertising and I would have expected some compensation for that providing the cells passed the capacity test, that is until this happened.
 
Those of us who have been around know most of the suppliers falsely advertise in some form or another. Some buyers have more expectations than others. I can only say what I have said many times before. People need to consider the "commodity cell" cost per watt hour vs buying true new Grade A cells.

I understand the paranoia of not receiving what was advertised and safety concerns. However it's very unlikely a cell is going to go bad years down the road if it initially passes capacity testing and is run through a few cycles at the users C rates. I don't know of any LFE cell that has spontaneously combusted or anything like that.

In my case I wanted to complete my build as cheap as possible and when all is said and done it's still going to be costly. But the cost per wh is cheap. I have nothing against Grade A cells and there are reasons to consider them. Warranty, mainly for peace of mind, and capacity matching are a couple of good ones.
 
Only mistake I see in their messages is they think it isn't a good thing to be the first person in 11 years of doing business.
That deserves a WOW! Do I get a medal? response. Picture on the cashier isle, don't sell batteries to this man.......

Whoever this "lab" is, they know nothing about LiFePO4. They have ruined at least one cell due to lack of knowledge. If you put cells in series and charge them to over 14 volts, you will surely damage at least one cell if you don't use a BMS. I hope they are paying you.

Can you please provide their website?
Im not asking to bash them or anything negative, just really curious about their portfolio.

To me it's clear they fried one cell, at least.
Probably damaged the others.

I tried to find special LiFePO4 charge profile for the victron multiplus compact you can see on the picture, but was unable to.

Loads of lead acid options :)
 
They seemed fine up to about 75% then one started lagging behind
