As a DIY solar installer, I've been following this forum for quite some time. I currently have a 24v system consisting of two flooded batteries, a MUST 80a MPPT controller, and a Yohako 3.5kva inverter; I'm looking to upgrade to an AIO inverter that is both efficient and durable; I'm not going completely off-grid because my budget is tight right now. I'm on the verge of deciding whether to go with the Deye 6kw or the Growatt SPF 6k. The Deye is x2 the price of the Growatt. I really need advise from people who have used both or any of the inverters.

I have purchased:
  • 10 x Jinko NEO 555watts mono-facial Panel

Looking forward to buy:
  • 1 x Deye 6k (price: ₦1,600,000) or 1 x Growatt SPF 6k ES (price: ₦840,000)
  • 1 x Pylontech 5.12kw UF5000 at ₦2,032,000

Here are my concerns:
  • Since the Growatt SPF 6k ES is an off-grid inverter, will it be suitable in terms of grid support, which is one of the features I need most?
  • What other benefit (aside from selling to the grid) will I get if I go for the expensive Deye 6kw?
  • Can the Growatt use Grid to charge the battery while I supply load from the battery at the same time without going into bypass mode, as stated on this thread? and this particular comment
  • Is there currently a solution for the problem that causes Growatt to stop charging even when there is enough power coming from the PV and instead use the battery to 90% before starting up again?
  • The Pylontech UF battery is built with 16 cells. I haven't seen people's reviews about it

I'm also interested in hearing peoples thoughts (preferably experiences) about Growatt vs Deye for off grid 5kw or 6kw. As noted by the OP Growatt is half the price. Anyone?

Me and my solar friends bought Growatt SPF5000ES and only one lasted more than an year out of like 10
I have 2 units and they have been working for over 2 years. Maybe yours were working at the limit of their parameters.

Hello OP, I have been running my 6000es plus for over 8 months now and its been great. Just updated the firmware which was quite straightforward. I live in the jungle in Costa Rica so the environment is very hard on everything. 100% humidity and 30-35 c during the rainy season to 35 c and bone dry/dusty in the dry season. I like the fact the 6000 has intake air filters which really helps keep out contaminates in the inverter. That's my two cents. Good luck. Ben

I believe you and your friends must have had a very unpleasant experience with Growatt, can you please give more details about your setup and how they died

Thank you, but what about the idle power consumption? have you ever tried looking at that?

The idle consumption is about 60 watts with the AC input breaker closed. When open it's about 45 watts. Hope that helps. Cheers. Ben

Growatts — дерьмо. Купите MPPSolar, если хотите что-то дешевле, чем Deye.
Hello.

Help please in choosing an inverter
Deye SUN-6K-SG03LP1-EU
Deye SUN-6K-SG05 LP1-EU-SM2
Solis S5-EH1P6K-L
Solax X1-Hybrid-7.5-D
GROWATT SPH 6000 TL BL-UP

the priority was to the SUNGROW SH6.0RS, but it still does not works (as the manufacturer reported) with a battery ((((

Thank you for your help

Thanks @Bigbadben

Was going to choose MPPSolar LVX 12kW but hearing about the support issues has me worried; their website is very 90s and it's hard to find info. Tried to call support for Growatt & got crickets. Have you had better luck? Re: your experience:

This is what I need: Zero Export Grid tied (if the Inverter is certified in California); support for 6 strings = total 16.8kWh + 64kWh batteries. I'll probably need 3 inverters that can communicate together and perform voltage/frequency/phase sync so they can all output to loads without back-feed issues that wear the other inverters being back-fed into. Support for balancing the batteries (the 4 will be paralleled via busbars so they're equalized in length/voltage/current input/output.

There's more but given the above, do you still think the Growatt makes more sense?

I have direct contact with a Growatt tech support representative in South America so I get instant response from my guy. I can only speak to my experience, which has be fantastic.

I would go with whoever gives you the best support prior to buying. That is a general indicator to how good the support will be after the sale. I used to to run a business design/building data centers with all the infrastructure needed to provide a turn key solution. The only thing that mattered to me was how issues were dealt with after the sale. So pick your vendor wisely and do your due diligence. I deal with Growatt because of the support I receive from them in my region.. Cheers, Ben

@Bigbadben Thank you! 🙏

Any chance you can connect me to your tech support? Note: I don't speak Spanish. I would only ask a few questions which are already documented in Google docs, so it would be easy to respond to. While he's still part of the company, so technicalky, it would be "ok", I realize tech support usually get rotation FIFO assignment of customers so they're not overloaded. But thought I'd ask anyway. Regardless of your answer, thank you for considering it.
