Deye inverter

My inverter is broken, and I want to replace it with a new brand of inverter. I am currently leaning towards DeYe, but a friend who uses DeYe told me that his inverter was deactivated by DeYe because of a conflict with the distributor. However, I still really want to purchase a DeYe inverter. Can anyone tell me why the issue with the friend mentioned above occurred? Could it be because DeYe is protecting its exclusive agents? What is the difference between buying DeYe products from an exclusive agent or primary distributor versus buying from a secondary distributor or second-hand dealer?

The issue with Deye was confined to Deye branded units in the US and some other locations (not Singapore).

We are now running our Deye units with the WiFi dongles removed and Solar Assistant as the web monitoring system (just because you are paranoid ...)

We are very happy with our units.

Is private solar actually permitted in S'pore? (I recall a friend saying that it was basically outlawed, but my memory could be faulty).

Yeah ^^^, mine works very nicely with both wired and WiFi networks using their local IP addresses. I can also VPN into my home network and connect that way when I'm out and about.

Whilst I'd rather not expose the Pi to the big-bad net, sometimes there's no choice and I have to let it out. I've been working in Cairo recently and from there none of my VPNs will make a reliable connection (the hotel is right next to the Giza pyramids, so I suspect the energy is being drained by the resident aliens) so the only way is the use the SA online site.

I have the DEYE 16 kW and the only way to connect is via the 232 port. That is until today! Today's beta will connect via the stick logger. So far working fine with my orangePi.

I have a 10 kW Deye inverter. i have some issues with their firmware but the inverter has been reliable. I'm using the stick logger with a Solarman integration in Home Assistant. I'm also connected to it with Solar Assistant. Both of those work well. I believe there is an ethernet dongle but the wifi dongle has been solid.
