Disconnect between flexboss21’s and gridboss

Well however one thinks this should be done, the power company is over reaching their authority afaic.
Is it too late for you to pivot to an off grid type system where you only use the grid as emergency backup and battery charging?
Take your biggest energy consumer off the grid like your AC compressor in the Southern states.

Completely agree, they would shut both off. But this disconnect they want me to put in will only stop the solar system from feeding the house in addition to stopping any backfeed to them that the main service disconnect would do just as well. Anyway,, they’re adamant. I have to put the two combiner panels to feed one disconnect. So a lot more cost in equipment and wire.

My PoCo documentation was confusing. It said a breaker was fine in one document, then another said it needed a knife blade on all conductors. Well, neutral by legal definition is a conductor, so I ended up having to install a 3 phase shutoff switch for split phase service. They are completely random in how they do stuff and it makes no sense and can create severe safety problems (as you're noting) if you don't compensate for their insanity.

If your RSD switch is accessible to knob-dickers by the nature of it's location requirements, shutting off the whole system is a lot different than shutting off the solar field on the roof... configurability would reduce the number of people disabling an easily pressed button completely.
