DIY 230Ah EVE Mobile Battery (aka) EZGO Golf Cart

Started my golf cart build. Hoping to use a Anderson plug to connect my main bank to the cart for charging and drawing from the cart at night when not in use. I'm going to change out controller and motor for AC type. Building a 230Ah LiFePo4 battery pack and I'm going to try a JBD 300a bms.20220508_150735.jpg20220508_150700.jpg

Nice work, you will be shocked at how quick it is with the Navitas motor.
I upgraded to the Navitas TAC2 controller with the stock AC motor and I had to dial down the acceleration, it's too fast.
 
I put a Li-ion battery in a 1984 EZGO, stock motor, stock controller. The controller (according to searches) would either be 175 or 275 max amps. I put a Coulomb meter in the dash and observed about 150 amps on a steep hill, so I think I have a 175 amp controller. I am not trying to go fast, just go. I would guess that 250 amps or so would be fine and inside what the battery cells and a 300amp BMS would be happy with.
 
I have mounted my controls for the battery but can not find any wire diagram for the bms . Does any one have a source available?

Have you changed the default settings in the controller to let it pull more than 200a from the pack?
 
I should have added, that is a GREAT looking build, mine will not be nearly as clean.
 
I was able to take the moble battery pack out for a test drive yesterday. It will do a respectable top speed of 34 mph. Now I am waiting for my Anderson plug assembly to arrive so I can connect to my inverters and main cabinet.View attachment 97515View attachment 97516

I have changed the settings in my controller. But when I measure the amp draw I never see it pull more than 200a. It pulls 47amps on flat ground @25 mph and 108 amps @ 35 mph. It seems to peak on acceleration @ around 180 but I haven't driven it very much still working on the body.

As you can see in the first pictures the battery rack was completely ruined. I used it for dimensions and built a box to mount in the same position as the original. Testing my charge cord to my main cabinet. 20' 4awg copper with 50 amp Anderson plug. Now I have to decide how to mount them properly.20220609_160507.jpg
 
Nice Job --- Dude you're making me want to find a Golf Cart to rebuild--- My wife might shoot me though -- I already have Hot Rodded scooters for the Grandkids (the one that does 28mph sure is fun though)

Just a question about the battery pack: I see you have compression in place. Did you put any separation material in between the cells?
If so, what material did you use?
 
I would like to do this same thing. But I also want to add an inverter and some outlets. So I could use it A a power supply for my refrigerator when power goes out.
