Hi All,

Hopefully I'm posting this in the correct place. First off I'm looking to put together a system to lower our monthly bill and eventually expand on it. The system needs to be grid assisted but with no net metering. I would also like to have backup power when the grid is down for the essentials. Our budget will be around $5k to start.
Currently thinking of using an all-in-one inverter, EG4 48v 100AH battery, and use the rest of the budget to buy used solar panels. Our kwh usage for the past year was 10,520KWH, Average 880KWH, High 910KWH, Low 680KWH. Im in PR so it's always sunny and hot. According to an online solar system calculator we get avg of 5.53hrs sun hours. We dont have to worry about any permits, labor will be done by me.

What inverter would you suggest I use and can that battery be enough to run say 2 fans, refrigerator overnight? Is this even a good idea? Can all-in-one inverters be used as I need? Given our energy use, what system would you suggest?

Thanks in advance

10520kWh / 365 = 29kWh per day

29000Wh / 5.5h per day = 5272W solar panels

29000Wh / 56V charging = 518Ah
518Ah / 5.5h = 94A charging

51.2V x 100Ah = 5120Wh battery capacity
5120Wh / 5.5h = 931W of solar to recharge batteries from empty each day.

This will be light on the battery side but if the bulk of your use is during the 5.5h of solar, that will help your use case (unspecified).

Looks very reasonable. Sorry I cannot recommend an AIO.

So around 5.5kw of solar panels should be enough to power the house then?

What if there is a power outage can the battery supply enough power to handle surges?. We have a refrigerator, medium size chest freezer and 2 Midea beverage coolers aside from that in case of an outage only lights will be on.
