If you set up a serial port bridge over wifi you can connect to the desktop app wirelessly.
An esp32 on each end would do it and the library to program them should be common. There might also be a premade solution for a wireless UART serial link.

We are working on a new desktop app but did you know that windows doesn't really support BLE? only inthe most recent releases of windows 10 and not very well. I was surprised.
