I have twelve 24v 250 watt panels and I recently got an all in one inverter off amazon and i don’t think it works as someone pointed out in another thread. I’ve had my eye on the growatt 24v 3000watt all in one since seeing Will recommend it but it is out of my budget but with the nightmare of trying to figure it out I am considering sucking up the few extra hundred bucks tic make it work- but only if I know for 120% sure the specs will work for me. Due to space I am needed to do 2 parallel with 6 panels on each. Can I successfully do this with this inverter? The other inverter I bought wouldn’t allow enough input voltage?(someone in beginner solar answered my question I attached convo For background context)

I attached the cheap inverter that won’t work for me, the specs of my solar panel and the one I’m considering for context....

Helppppppp time sensitive I need electricity for my kids in my new house (NE FLORIDA) I don’t have option for grid it’s all off grid and generator gasoline is getting so expensive ?????

Before we can say what will or will not work, we need an itemized list of what needs to be powered, and how many watts they consume.

Lights and TV: Easy, small system 12V
Refrigerator/freezer/small 6000BTU window air-con: Bigger, medium sized system 24V (Growatt might work here)
Large air conditioning, wellpump, ect : Biggest 48V system high surge rating. (Not this sized Growatt)

I haven't seen your other thread. Can you go into more detail as to why the inverter you already have does not work? What did you actually do to determine that? Did you first try to boot up the inverter on battery power only? What is your battery?

To give you an idea of scale....
The 12V items listed above run around the 50W range.
The 24V items above in the 500W range
The 48V items in the 2000-5000W range, depending on capacity.

Keep in mind that anything that is motor driven, such as refrigerators, air-conditioners, ect have what's called a starting surge. That's a brief <1 second surge of power to start the motor. Typically it's 3-4-5X the running power. Any inverter you employ needs to handle the starting surge, or it will go into error mode.

What battery will you be connecting to the inverter for nighttime power? The amphour rating of the battery needs to be scaled to the nighttime power draws.

Just to backfill with the original thread and info:

MichaelK is 100% spot on in that you REALLY should figure out your power needs before buying a second system. If you need a hand figuring out your daily consumption, reply everything you plan on running and for how long they need to run. If you know how many watts or amps they use that will help as we will eventually need to determine that or make some guesses.

It sounds like you're hoping to run air conditioning from solar? That will likely be your biggest usage. If you have a model number or number of BTU's or anything on the label that would help get started.

Can I successfully do this with this inverter?

You will not be able to use this the Growatt 3k with your panels in 2P6S. That would be ~18a at ~180vdc. Max PV input for the SPF 3000TL LVM-24P is 145vdc.

You could use it if you can rewire the panels to 4P3S (~36a at ~95vdc), but you would be way over paneled (~3000w?). If you could angle some of the panels in a different direction it would work really well (3 Southeast, 6 South, 3 Southwest). That would give you less total power, but spread the power out for much longer.

Can you switch to 48v? You would still need to run 4P3S, but the Growatt 48v version goes up to 4.5kw of panels and is pretty much the same price.

The one below will do 170Volts, not sure if that will help, its also a 3000 watt inverter.

Please provide a link to specs for the inverter you're considering. Not enough information in the screenshot.

Why don't you think the inverter you already bought works? Broken, or not a fit for your needs?
