Hi Forum,
This is my first post. We are planning to install a solar system at our off grid home in Maine (lowest temp ever recorded in our area: -37 C.) How would I maximize the solar input for:

EG4 12 kPV Hybrid inverter which has 2 MPPT’s with two inputs each (so you can parallel two strings into each MPPT which will act like a combiner box)
Voltage per MPPT: 140-500V
Maximum Amps per MPPT: 25

Supposedly, the inverter can accept up to 15,000W of solar input.

I have learned how to compensate for the low temp in sizing the array. I’m having trouble though finding panels that have a current of less than or equal to 12.5 amps (since if you parallel them, the two strings can maximally total 25 amps for each of the two MPPTs).

My question is: what manufacturer/wattage panels should I buy and in what configuration should I string them to hit near the maximum solar input of 15000W?

Thanks so much for your help!

Keep your rated Voc at 400V or less.

25A is the max usable with 31A Isc max.

Panels rarely put out more than 90% rated, so up to 27.5A Imp won't result in much loss.

I'd be looking for 45-50Voc panels in the high 400/low 500W range in 8S2P arrays.

EDIT: I don't entirely get the "25A/41.6A in total" - this implies you need to keep your Imp around 12A per string. If that's the case, mid 400W panels will probably get you there.

Thanks for your reply! I think I get it now: 600V is the voltage limit per MPPT but the max current per MPPT is actually 31A Isc, right?

The 41.6A in total is a recommended max usable input current based off of the nominal MPP voltage of 360 VDC and recommended maximum solar input of 15000W.

That is correct.

Please clarify. 41.6A "recommended" is not clear in the datasheet. The data sheet is pretty specific. "Max usable input current, 25A per MPPT/41.6A in total"

Asked another way:

If I have sufficient loads/charging to consume the max array power, a string voltage low enough to use max Imp, 24A Imp on MPPT1 and 24A Imp on MPPT2, what will the total PV Imp be?
