I have had multiple W028:EPS over load faults. Reading says it might be battery or discharge settings.
Here are my settings. I have not had even 6000 watts pulled that I can see.

Any advice ?

why is your discharge limit set so low. That’s only going to give you 5000w max. What batteries do you have?

EG4 Support set them to that. I have one EG4 LL-s 48v and a Vatrer 48v 100 ah battery.
You need more battery. You should probably set to 200 since you have two batteries. What is the max discharge rate of each? If each battery is limited to 50a max discharge you need to keep it at 100a. I would just get at least two more batteries.

This would be the max which is punishing your batteries, won't last long.
100a Discharge = 5000w
200a Discharge = 10000w
300a Discharge = 15000w

I have 4 batteries (400a max discharge) on my EG4 6000xp. This allows me to use all 6000w and surge at just over .5c. My discharge setting is set to 140a.

You're light on battery but you should set it to the maximum the two can supply. You need more battery if you intend to utilize all the capability of your inverter. The spec's call for 280 amps for full power.

3 ton heat pump. Lights ect. Never showed a reading over 4k but maybe a spike on start up.
If you don't have one you might consider putting a soft start on your a/c. I have a 3 ton that a soft start reduced the in rush current from 81 amps to 29.

Look at the label on your condenser (outside) unit. Look for the LRA which is the locked rotor amperage. That's the peak in rush. You can also purchase a meter which will measure it directly for any inductive load. These are handy to own as you can measure actual draw both a/c and d/c with the right meter. The big box stores sell Kline brand for about $120. Or you can pick a generic one up on Ebay for about half of that.

I don’t see any way 100amp of battery is going to start a 3ton heat pump without softstart.

AvgJoe just did a video with two Vater batteries starting a 3ton with a softstart and batteries were config’d for full 100amp each.

It would appear you're in closed loop mode which because you have two different brands of battery the inverter is probably only communicating with the single LL s 100 ahr battery. The only option is to switch to voltage mode and manually set the Ahr value to 200. This should allow you to set the discharge amperage to 200.

Well it does in fact run it heating at night and cooling in the day.

If you have an inverter heat pump then a soft start isn’t going to help you. If it’s a standard compressor 3 ton heat pump, I would go with an EasyStart brand soft start. One thing’s for sure, you need more battery capacity for your system to work correctly.

Any suggestions for a soft start for a 3 ton ?
The two most prevalent brands are the $375 EasyStart or the $250 Hyper Engineering. The EasyStart has bluetooth does provide some info. I went with the HyperEngineering cause it does the same thing without the IMO bells and whistles. Also the Hyper was smaller which fit under the A/C's cover keeping it completely out of sight and the sun.

@shopman asked the right question above. Need to find out if it’s an inverter heatpump like a minisplit or standard compressor.

@mrenz9 can you take a picture of your compressor label. As an example mine is below.

Your LRA or in rush is 75 amps. A soft start will drop that to less than 25. Highly recommended. Your inverter at max output (not surge) is 50 amps.

Ok. I am looking at soft starts now. Seems to range from 160.00 to 450.00. That’s a big range lol.
